look i guess we got what we paid for. this hotel is a 15-20 mins train ride (on top of the 10 min walk to station) from Kyoto's city centre, so if you want to be near the action, this hotel is not for you. As you also might expect from it being a little far away, the staff are... More

beware that the transport to the city is cumbersome: there's a bus very close but only runs once an hour. to make it more confusing, the bus has 2 directions from Kyoto central station - be extra careful to pick the right one. there's a train station further away (10min walking) - not sure how often the train passes. it's... We stayed 2 nights, after the overkill of tokyo this made it feel more japanese. Take the jr inari line from the vast and modern Kyoto station and walk into a more laid back Kyoto. The inari shrine entrance is just opposite the station and there are lots of little shops. We took the walk past the canal which had... More

Typical small room in Japan. 10 min from Inari station. Close to Inari shrine which is very nice. Staff speaks some English. Very fast WIFI in the room. Newer hotel. Very bright and efficient. Restaurant on site.

Well, I don't want repeat everything the others said already. But one info: the hotel has wifi. We asked for wifi at the desk and they gave us a small box, witch could connect to the lan-cabel in the room. It costs 100¥/day. Fair price...have fun here.

It is difficult to find if not taking the JR line. It takes about 10 mins. train ride from city center. The room is about standard size in Japanese standard. Front desk staff speaks little English even though it is a touist town (could be due to its remote location from the city center). The room is clean and neatly... More

To be honest you have to be prepared to walk a little back and forth from the JR station (about 10-15 mins) but we were on a budget and this place was great value for us. The room is very clean and you have everything you may need, they have umbrellas they'll lend you if it rains, there is a... More

We booked semi-doubles at this hotel: in fact the beds were pretty much regular double size which was good (but that didn't leave much space for the luggage!). The location was not too bad: Kyoto is vast, so you're never going to be perfectly located, and the Urban Hotel is in walking distance of one prime temple, the Fushimi Inari... More

I'll start by saying that all hotels in Japan are small compared to Western standards. I do not count this against them. If tons of space is what you need, you should go to one of the major chains and pay a fortune. We were looking for a decent hotel in the $100/per night range, and Urban was what we... More

Stayed here for 3 nights, and have to say it was cheaper than most hotels in Kyoto at the time. A bit out of town so we took a taxi in (around JPY1500) as it was a pretty hot day. The subway and JR lines are not too far to walk to (which should get you to most of the... More
