Highly recommended accommodation if your looking for a quiet stay away out of the hustle and bustle of the city centre. The rooms were beautiful, clean, spacious and the staff were helpful and welcoming. My fiance proposed in the hotel restaurant over a delicious meal of Shabu Shabu and it couldn't have been more perfect. Even though it's out of... More

A perfect place to stay in Kyoto. Staying in a ryokan is a once in a life time experience. Make sure to try the hot bath. Food is more than excelent. Location is very convenient. The hotel provides free bicicles, the perfect way to move around kyoto Personally, im really looking forward to go back.

A lovely experience of a traditional Japanese Inn, very warm welcome with the Tea ceremony, nice room, and a very nice dinner. Expensive but worthy to experience the Japanese culture......................................................................

If you visit Japan, you must visit Kyoto. If you visit Kyoto, you must stay in a traditional Ryokan. It is a step back in time and the Kyoto Garden Ryokan Yachiyo perfectly captures the magic that is Kyoto living. It was amazing to have a traditional Japanese breakfast overlooking a beautifully kept garden. I am a vegetarian and I... More

The proximity of the river and the centre was our criteria to choose this ryokan. It turned out to be just what we wanted. It is located in the geishas district which makes it even more interested. The service and the food were excellent. I would recommend this place. The traditional food was of very high quality. We stayed there... More

Nice food, warm service, nice place... We enjoyed it very much! The room was slightly creepy as there a weird statue, but all the food, the service, the place were perfect! The peach sake was very recommended! We tried to search the sake at many other places but we couldnt find it! Try the set menu... All the food were... More

My daughter and I treated ourselves to a single night in this lovely Ryokan after she had run the Kyoto marathon and before we continued out travels. We had wandered around the area the previous day and not realised we had passed this tranquil place. It was calm and comfortable. The futons looked so comfortable. We happily donned the yukata... Last time we visited Japan was in 2007, so this review should be taken in light of that When we visited Japan we stayed in a number of cities and in Ryokan in all the cities we visited Yachiyo was very much my favourite of all the places we stayed at Staff were incredibly professional, welcoming and pleasant to deal... I have had my share of nights spent in Ryokans, and for the price I paid to stay at Yachiyo my expectations were not exactly met. While I can't put my finger on what it is, there was just something missing about this ryokan that made me feel like it wasn't completely put together. However, overall I did enjoy my... More
