My family of 4, including an 8 year old boy and a 10 year old girl, truly enjoyed staying here. This is the sort of place that appeals to people who like a bed and breakfast more than a hotel. We stayed in a room that included 2 connected 6 tatami mat rooms and a full bath. The kids slept... More

This was my first trip to Japan and I found it quite bewildering at first. But I happily found the Three Sisters Inn though the advice of a friend who had lived in Japan some years ago.The Inn is located in a quiet neighbourhood, but it is very well connected to everything by busses that run frequently from a bus... We stayed @ 3 Sisters Inn Annex at the recommendation of a friend based in Osaka. This recommendation was made on the basis that we were close to most attractions but that it was a nice quiet area. We weren't disappointed with this advice and after we wandered through the charming entrance and garden, we realised we had found a... More

we stayed here with 4 of our friends. The hotel is close to the Heian shrine, but that's about it. there's a strange curfew, which makes you feel like you're 16. the evening attendant is so sweet, and so is the person in the early morning. however the person in the afternoon is seriously unhelpful and rude in Japanese standards.... I stayed here a week (which wasn't enough time :( ) and would stay again. This is a ryokan built into a modern two (perhaps three? I stayed on the 2nd floor) building. Nice Tatami rooms, I had an ensuite bathroom (which was dated but otherwise fine). Very friendly, helpful, English speaking owner and staff. Excellent location in Higashi-yama, about... More

We stayed at the Three Sisters Inn Annex for three nights, inspired by a discussion thread we read on Lonely Planet. The Inn is quiet, in a residential neighborhood but only ~20 meters away from a main street with key bus routes, you can also walk to the subway in ~20 mins (briskly). The rooms were spacious (we stayed in... More

We stayed at the Three Sisters Inn Annex for 11 nights this November and had a wonderful experience. This being our first visit at Kyoto, we wanted to absorb as much as we could while using a centrally located family ryokan as our base. We found just that! Morita san and Yoshi san at the front desk helped us in... More

We stayed in the Three Sisters in for 4 nights. We had spent nearly 20 hours travelling so were both jet lagged. This was so tranquil, it helped us to relax and adjust. We wanted to come to the Three Sisters because we were looking for an authentic Japanese experience not a luxury 5 star hotel. It does look old... More

We stayed at Three Sisters Inn Annex for three nights, and had a wonderful experience. The ryokan was well maintained, comfortable, and the management and staff were extremely helpful and kind. I felt like a guest in someone's home, rather than in a hotel. The staff all spoke English and could help with information and communication with taxi companies and... More

I have been staying at the Three Sisters Inn Annex since the 1970's. My wife and daughter have also had the same wonderful experience that I have had for so many many years! We love the hospitality, cleaniness of the hotel and rooms, delicious American and Japanese breakfasts, the employees and especially Takao-san and Kay-san. The hotel is beside the... More
