Stayed at Intrepids for 2 nights during a 12 day Kenyan safari. It was incredible! You can't even call the tents tents -- they were absolutely gorgeous! Immaculate, luxurious and very comfortable. Hot water bottles in your bed! The food was gourmet perfect with beautiful presentation every time. Staff was there for every need and went out of their way... More

I am not a camper, but this was our two-night stop on our 12-day safari trip through Kenya. Our tent was somewhat luxurious, but with enough rustic to make the experience seem more like camping in Kenya than staying at a hotel. The mosquito netting was secured each night around the beds and we had to secure the tents with... More

My kind of camping! The tents were great! They were large and spacious with bathroom, 2 sinks, shower and bathrobes! We flew into the Samburu airstrip in a small plane and the 20 minute drive to the camp through the animal reserve was incredible, with animals at every turn! The camp has 27 modern tents with all the bathroom amenities... More

We visited Samburu as part of a 6 night flying safari in February and had an amazing stay. Our 'Tent' was first class and very comfortable. We didnt get invaded by monkeys as we observed the rules of shutting the tent properly to stop invasion! It was good to have a torch on hand in case of waking in the... More

The trips to and from airstrip and the lodge (1 1/2 hr) were safaris in their own right. The service we received from the personal welcome through the lodge care and restaurant service to the departure couldn't be faulted. The restaurant food quality was good at every meal. Of the three National Parks we visted this holiday (Samburu, Lake Naivasha... More

This was my first trip to Samburu after many trips to Maasai Mara and Tsavo, and I was very impressed by the variety of animals. Intrepids is a mid-range tented camp, and is a good value for the money. The food was inconsistent, ranging from okay to excellent. The camp is run on generator power and they post a regular... More

The Samburu area is definitely beautiful, but this is an old lodge in need of some renovation. Specially the common areas ( lounge, restaurant, swimming pool, shop) of Intrepids lack charm and are outdated. It seems therefore not correct to call this a "luxury camp".... The rooms/tents have been renovated and they are ok. We did a nice bird walk,... More

We stayed here for two nights. Its a good location in the national park. But is a DISASTER SERVICE. Takes them 2 hours to prepare dinner. Then both the days in the morning, there was no water in the camp and no way to communicate with the reception. One has to walk down to the reception (1 km walk). And... More

Walking up to the rooms, I was excited to zip up the opening to walk through and amazed at the luxurious rooms. We stayed here two nights. I highly recommend those travelling through Kenya to make a stop in the Samburu area (and stay here). The elephants were incredible, more than anywhere else on our 14 day safari. We saw... More

When I stay somewhere on a full board basis (especially when there really aren't many, or any, other options for food), that tends to be my basis for any rating. The food at Samburu Intrepids is at times excellent and exactly what you expect from a luxury property and at times disappointing. They score big points for providing some tasty... More
