While the surroundings are beautiful this hotel is rather far from Nikko and lacks the period charm of the more rural onsen ryokan we stayed in the previous night. Western-style rooms are somewhat tired, particularly the rather small and dingy bathrooms. My wife tried the onsen and reported it was particularly sulphurous, which didn't agree with her skin nor with... More

We stayed there for one night. The view on the lake is beautiful. The lake is really nice when sunny outside. It is a beautiful walk to do. The food was really good at the restaurant of the hotel. The receptionist were really helpfull. We had a wonderful stay I recommend it

We have stayed at the lakeside every year now for the last four years, we always go up on the 3rd of January for the local shrines New Year arrow shooting festival where the priests shoot arrows off a bridge down a gully towards Lake Chuzenji. The hotel is always welcoming and there is always a huge barrel of new... More

Very nice, relatively high level hotel in a superb location, on the shores of the beautiful Chuzenji lake and close to nature protected areas for fantastic walks and hikes. It's just a few Km from Nikko, but the road is so steep and full of hairpin turns that the trip takes a pretty long time. As always in Japan (in... More

We went to Nikko from Tokyo with a special Nikko train-pass that is effective for 4 days. It's cheap -4.400 YEN return- and the one way travel by train will take appr. 2 1/2 hours, gliding through the concrete jungle of Tokyo into a beautiful mountainous era that is part of the World Cultural Heritage site. Just the trip by... More

Stayed here for 2 nights, even though everyone told me a night or a day trip would have been sufficient. They were pitiably wrong. Nikko in April is still without the cherry blossoms, so the crowds stayed away, which was a real blessing to enjoy the shrines in some level of peace. And the hotel without the throngs of tourists... Situated right on Lake Chuzenji, the hotel was ideally placed for getting away from it all, into the forests and mountains for walking and biking. If a remote location is what you are after, this is the place for you.. we arrived at the hotel around 7pm on a Friday night, went straight into dinner, then wandered down the 'main... More

Stayed here way back in May 2010. This hotel I guess is the same owner or affiliated with Japan Airlines. Our flight was cancelled due to weather. We end up staying there with unlimited meals. Room is clean, amazing bathroom especially the toilet, push button to wash your butt. Lol! Desk clerk doesn't speak much English but they are trying... More

The hotel is a jaunt from Nikko and not the best for access to the main site of Nikko Toshogu Shrine. That said the hotel has a nice lakeside setting that is serene and enveloped in nature. If you don't mind being remote this is a great place to stay. Rooms are a bit dated but nice size for Japan.... More

The location of this hotel, right by the lake, high in the mountains, is just wonderful. It's also convenient for the bus station (buses go to Nikko, takes about 50 mins). The staff were very kind and helpful, and some spoke excellent English which was very helpful for us. The hotel has its own onsen baths and we used their... More
