We've visited Hakone Suimeiso only for 1 night and regretted it was that short. From outside the hotel looks like concrete bloc:) but inside this is typical japanese ryokan. It's located few steps from Hakone-yumoto station, right at the river bank. Our room has beautuful river view. The staff are exteremely nice and helpful making your stay real pleasure. The... More

We arrived in pouring rain and found the place easily right near the station (look at 'street view' before you get here as the sign is in Japanese) Delighted to see my name on a plaque in the entrance ... Staff do not speak much English but very friendly and helpful. The food served in our room was incredibly good.... More

We stayed one night with 18 high school students from United States. We rented "Iro Yukata" for all of us. Kids loved it very much. Dinner was amazing. If you are traveling as a couple, I strongly recommend the private outdoor onsen experience -- 50 min for 2000 yen. Walking along the river banks is really nice. It is located... More

The staff is very correct, but not friendly. The common feeling is that we (foreigners) are very unwelcome in this place. Everything in Japanese except of warnings in the places, where our incomprehension of local traditions can interfere in other (“wanted”) guests' enjoyment of the place. The meals are reach and probably delicious, but if you are not an expert... More

As already described by many others,it's a quaint little japanese hotel within the hills located conveniently next to hakone yumoto train station. The decor and rooms are a bit dated and really showing, however since we were just staying for the night we didn't really mind.Service and hospitality were excellent as each floor was serviced by a hostess who will take care... We stayed at Suimeisou with dinner and breakfast plan. It was a great onsen experience!! The location is perfect, only 5 minute walk from Hakone Yumoto station. Booked a private onsen session and it was awesome. Must try!! In room dinner was spectacular, with endless plates filled up our table! All the staffs were nice and friendly. They made us... More

In Japan, there's a type of lodging that's not your typical hotel, call a Ryokan. unfortunately they are quite expensive, as most lodging in Japan is anyway... these Ryokan sometimes have their own inhouse hotspring, though the bigger and better ones means more expensive. we had never been to Hakone but heard that it has great hotsprings and scenery. so... Excellent and warm reception throughout my one night stay here. Very traditional and clean ryokan. Reception staffs speak basic English but the kimono-clad older women does not so a lot of hand gestures are needed. Breakfast and dinner were superb. There are 2 saunas; hot and cold. The ryokan is located very near to yumoto train station. The area is... More

The staff do not speak much English but these older gentlemen and ladies made it up by being really friendly and hospitable people. I enjoyed Hakone a lot... and even more with a truly Japanese experience staying in a traditional Japanese room in Suiseisou; and had my first indoor and outdoor onsen. The spread of Kaiseki is the most memorable... More

We received a very warm welcome when arriving at the Hotel Suimeiso. I loved the fact my name was handwritten in the foyer and the gracious welcome by a lovely older lady in a kimono. The traditional Japanese room was beautifully laid out and extremely comfortable, the Japanese breakfast was superb. We did not use the public onsen but did... More
