My friend and I didn't know what to expect when we arrived to Matahari. We got the recommendation from our Lonely Planet guide and booked on the website on a whim. When we arrived to Matahari, we were blown away with its' beauty and lovely Iluh. Iluh has such a beautiful smile and is so warm and incredibly helpful. We... More

My sister and I booked this unique looking B&B online. When we arrived and were shown to the Indian themed room it looked NOTHING like the pictures. It wasn't a funky decorated room, everything had been painted white and the furniture was falling apart. They gave us the room next door which still had a mural and a weird stone... More

If you like faded glory, this if the place for you. It WAS a great little find until the land reverted to the local owner who does not believe in maintenance. Lovely, wonderful staff, who are frustrated too. Keep in mind that the rooms look nothing like the photos provided - not even close. Sheets are stained with many things... More

We have been living in Asia for 8 years. We are used to cockroaches, spiders, bugs, moths and mosquitoes (all to be found in our room). We are used to not having an air cond in our bedroom. But we were not prepared for the dirtiness. The pillowcase had old blood stains which I asked to be changed immediately. Worst... More

Having read previous reviews, I'm amazed we were all staying at the same place! My husband & I are backpacking through S.E.Asia & have stayed in some serious dives. This was NOT one of them! For 250,000Rp pn, we were blown away. We both work in 5* hotels & no matter what standard of accommodation we stay in, we always... More

We paid Rp250,000/night for 2 people for 6 nights. Location: approx. 5 mins walk from centre. On same street as Radiantly Alive yoga studio + Bali Budda. Nice pool and seating area. Free freshwater available, but warm-hot from water cooler as it is left out in sun all day! Room was nice ("Kecak") with good powerful ceiling fan above bed,... More

We stayed here after a few nights in less central guest house in Ubud. First impressions, when you're looking around it looks really good: central, modern infinity pool, cute bungalows, chilled out vibe.. It wasn't until we had booked our room, dumped our bags on the ground until we realised how FILTHY the place was. We went for the cheapest... More

Matahari Cottages what a perfect location in Ubud! 100m from yoga studio Radiantly Alive and Bali Buddha cafe. Cute shops without the hassle of hawkers and overpriced gifts. Less than 10min (easy) walk to markets, palace and center of town, about 15min walk to Yoga Barn. I stayed in Batavia Cottage. Very cute furnishings, close to pool, queen size bed... More

We made our booking for superior room with extra bed through Agoda. We, three of us (my husband, 11 yo daughter and me) arrived at Matahari cottage about 6pm in the mid of Aug. At first, the stuff took us to the room but it seemed someone was still there. Not finished bedmaking, cigarette bud was in the ashtray, no... More
