Lovely staff who are very helpful; rooms a bit basic but perfectly adequate; slightly expensive given that they don't offer breakfast. Re location, it's some 500 metres from the historic and there are plenty of bars and restaurants on the doorstep.

I would definitely recommend this hotel if you are not looking for a 5 stars hotel...It s very close to the old city and not far from Bocagrande (Big Mouth) area contains the bulk of the city's tourist facilities, such as hotels, shops, restaurants, nightclubs and art galleries...

Its clean but the staff have no idea about the tours around the city. If you want to go to Islas del Rosario or Playa Blanca please buy your tickets directly in the Muelle la Bodeguita. And if you have chance to stay at one hotel or hostel inside La ciudad amurallada its much better.

I booked the hostel online and at that same time I had to pay for the room. When I arrived they did not have my reservation, had no room and so far until today I haven't received my paid money back!! The staff was not helpful with looking for another hostel either.

I would recommend this as an affordable alternative to overpriced options in the walled city. I found this place in the lonely planet and was very happy with it. All the places in the old city (inside the wall) were in the $200/night range, but got only so-so reviews on trip advisor. This place is ~$100 per night, and just... More

Stayed at this hotel in Cartagena as typically, the reviews more or less stand up to be precise. However, there's always the exception right? Now although I can't fault the staff, the service was great - the reason why I wasn't left satisfied was because the room had Mosquitos flying around and the bathroom was rather dingy, not to mention... The day we arrives the hotel was sold out, moved to their sister hotel. Went back the next day and got a beautiful room. We looked at about 10 other hotel/hostel and this was by far the best even if it was more expensive. Hotel staff were lovely and friendly.

The staff here don't speak any English, but my limited Spanish was plenty for communicating with them, getting answers to questions, recommendations, etc. They were all super helpful and friendly. I had a standard double room and it was just fine for me, traveling alone. Very basic, but everything I needed. There was a large window that opened onto a... More

We moved into the Casa Villa Colonial after a few nights at a 'good' Hostal just down the road: For a few dollars more, it has been like moving to a different planet: Quiet, spacious and beautifully presented rooms surround a peaceful gardened courtyard. The staff are simply terrific. The area is full of good restaurants and bars, and it's... More

This hostel comes highly recommended. The owners are so kind and we really enjoyed our stay. The beds are a bit hard but most hostel beds are I find. The rooms were clean and the courtyard inside was lovely.
