I don't know why lonely planet recommended this. Far better places to stay and for cheaper. This place needs major updating. My shower was leaking into the room, all the furniture doors etc rotting. Horrible atmosphere and breakfast was a joke. Avoid!!

Terrible bed with a big "hole" in the middle. We couldn't sleep at all. no windows in our room (no. 31) except blurred windows in the bathroom. Bad air in the room - even for Potosi. it's a very nice place! the room was big, clean and warm and with a great view on the Cerro Rico. the staff is friendly and ready to give information about Potosì and Bolivia. Potosi was one of our favorite places in Bolivia. Ironically though, El Turista was our least favorite hotel. We had immediate problems with the shower. This hotel has major plumbing issues. We couldn't flush the toilet and the shower always either had no hot water or no cold water. In addition this, the customer service was not helpful whatsoever.
