As A Peace Corps Volunteer, the George Hotel was always my favorite place to stay in Lviv on many occasions. Already oriented to Ukrainian culture, I could appreciate its faded elegance, but it might be hard for Americans used to First World comfort. it's definitely a classic experience in a great downtown location.
