Picked this hotel out of the list mainly because of the great reviews and it did not disappoint us. Historic hotel across the street from the temple of the sun and the center of ancient Cusco. Rooms were clean, reasonable, and quiet. All rooms face a serene courtyard. Close to everything. The service and individual care are this boutique hotels... More

We recently stayed here and the smell in our room was so bad we could not sleep. They are currently doing work in the courtyard in the samle complex as this hotel is situated and the rooms smell of human excrement. We were moved to a second room but the smell was no better. The staff were apologetic but the... More

I booked this hotel based on reviews and knowing nothing about Cusco, and it turned out to be a great choice. We had to make a couple of changes after the booking, including cancelling one night in the middle of our reservation so we could stay in Aguas Calientes to see Machu Picchu, and the accommodated every request by e-mail.... Great hotel - really lovely and helpful staff. Assisted with coordination of taxis (because you can get screwed in Cusco if you don't get a legit taxi), kept our bags while we were on the trail and had everything set up in our room when we returned from the trek. Nice little breakfast each day, great location. Would definitely stay... More

The staff were very helpful and friendly and the hotel was very clean, nicely appointed and pleasant to stay in.Location is touristic oriented, not comfortable for shopping or city meetings. Rooms are big and comfortable

Great basic hotel. We picked the Unaytambo based on its reputation for customer service and were not disappointed. In fact, we enjoyed our first stay so much that we cancelled our stay with another hotel and, on our return from the Inca trail hike, booked back in again with Unaytambo. The owners were lovely and the young guy who cleaned... More

This is a great little hotel. We were met at the airport by a friendly driver who pointed out some of the sights on the way to the hotel. Terrific location...we were able to walk everywhere. Fantastic customer service in every way. They were always happy to help us. I had a bout of altitude sickness upon arrival and they... More

Staff: Very helpful but sometimes overwhelmed with the number of customers or customer requests. They made an error and charged us $150 instead of $130 per night. When I went back and pointed this out, it took them over half an hour to convince themselves that the error was on their part. Once this happened the apologized profusely and refunded... More

First off the location is perfect. Close to the plaza des armas and many other key attractions. But location is just a small part of this. It started at the airport. They had a driver come and meet us. Nothing like seeing your name and a smiling face when you enter a new continent for the first time. It was... More

We had a wonderful experience at the hotel. Firstly, airport pick up is greatly appreciated. The room was clean, spacious, well stocked with warm blankets and cozy with a rustic feel. The hotel is quiet, centrally located and courtyard is lovely for breakfast. Breakfast was also very good: cereals, cheese, cold cuts, two different types of toast, fruits, dry fruit... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The UNAYTAMBO Hotel is a large house of the viceroyalty built on Inca foundations. It is situated within an archaeological complex and according to the chronicles of the Inca Garcilaso de la Vega, in his famous book ‘Los Comentarios Reales’, the Inca Pachacuteq was born here, the most outstanding Cusquenian in all history. Proof of this can be seen in the double door posts, characteristic of the entrance to sacred places, in the present day the only doorway conserved in its original state and which serves as the entrance to the UNAYTAMBO Hotel, a witness to this grand legacy. ... more   less
