The location for this hotel is amazing - right in the Historic Centre, close to all attractions, on a pretty and safe street. The staff are fantastic and helpful. The hotel is very pretty, with a courtyard and a nice lounge area with two internet-connected computers. You get breakfast with your stay, though it's just (runny) scrambled eggs, fresh juice,... First I must mention the reception staff. They are wonderful and very helpful and made all the difference to our stay. Well done, you are a credit to the hotel. As mentioned by other reviewers the rooms are very variable. The first time we stayed - before heading off to the Galapagos - we had a corned room consisting of two... More

The location of the hotel is splendid, and the hotel has a nice atmosphere. However, make sure to get a reservation of a room on the second patio. Our first room on the first patio was small, noisy and had no daylight. The room on the second patio (upstares) was spatious and newer. Friendly staff, good breakfast.

We've stayed here both in 2007 and in 2012/13. The location is great, the staff is friendly and helpful, and the room we always choose is fantastic value. As in most colonial hotels in Ecuador some of the rooms don't have windows to the outside because the original court yard is covered. I don't like that. But if you ask... More

Charming and homey, right in the heart of Quito - what more could you want? Well, unless you are here to party and hang out with other tourists, then by all means stay in new town, which we found tacky and over-priced. Okay, evening meals are reportedly a little harder to find in Old Town, but La Ronda barrio is... More

My spouse and I stayed here at the beginning of our Ecuador trip, and had a lovely stay for three nights. The hotel is one of the few budget-friendly places we could find in Old Town, which we preferred to seedy, tourist-y New Town. The hotel is old and exudes charm, with nooks and crannies to explore. The courtyard is... More

This may not be everyone’s taste, but the benefits of the hotel outweigh the negatives for the anti-Holiday Inn traveler. The feature that contributes to both columns is that the place is old. The negative is that the furniture is scuffed and there is a general feeling that the place could use attention. (The plumbing, though, worked fine.) The other... More

Stayed twice - beginning and end of Galapagos Tour. Security date on street level. Very old building on second floor - creaking floor boards - rooms on small size - on-suites adequate - breakfast with voucher in adjoining cafe (no English in cafe) - you pay for available 24 hour tea and coffee - no evening meals - English on... The Hotel is built around a courtyard filled with fern pot plants and the courtyard is covered with opaque arched roof giving a light filled dry area which is used for people to sit at tables to have a chat with other travelers or to access the free wi-fi (or the two computers provided for those without) and enjoy garden/conservatory... I had decent rooms (stayed twice), hot water, and a great location in the historic party od town. Staff seemed disinterested, and breakfast was not very good and served by a snarky waitress. Free Internet terminals.
