our room was small and extremely dirty. the bathroom floor was covered with dirt and the sheets didn't look clean either. on top of that we had 250 dollars stolen from out bags while we left them in the storage room of the hostel! avoid this place!

This place is best avoided. The dorm room slept six - two bunks and two singles in a small room. The bathroom was also in the room (hard to describe) which meant that every time somebody used the facilities it was very noisy. Breakfast was provided but consisted of stale sliced white bread.

This was our second visit to Valparaiso and our second stay at Hostal Caracol, and we enjoyed it just as much as 5 years ago. Nice, clean rooms and helpful staff. Great value for money! The owners also run a nearby restaurant with a spectacular view over the city, great food and a friendly atmosphere. Highly recommended!

Really enjoyed our stay here! Staff are clued up and friendly and full ot advice and recommendations on what you can do. Wifi worked perfectly. Dorms are spacious with large chest lockers. We stayed 3 nights on this hostal really clean, quiet and beautiful. This is a good place to stay in Valparaiso, not too far from the center and near from the Pablo Neruda's house. I enjoyed my stay at Hostal Caracol. It is in a nice neighbour, the staff was friendly, and the breakfast was good. I stayed in the dorm room and there was a chest at the foot of each bed -- perfect for locking up your valuables.
