As experienced, mature, independent travellers we were privileged to spend a wonderful week at Alecon. We were picked up from the bus station by Alberto, and over coffee, given accurate and relevant information on all aspects of the city. Alberto is a mine of information, loves his city, and nothing is too much trouble. He even went to great lengths... More

We stayed here for 4 nights even though we only meant to stay two. The beds were very comfortable, the rooms cleaned every day & we had access to the computer whenever we wanted. The 20000 pesos a night included breakfast. Our host was very friendly and shared his enthusiasm for Valparaiso with us at every opportunity even drawing out... More

Alecon Fine Hostel is perfectly located in the beautiful area of Cerro Concepcion. All the nice walkways and many good restaurants are in very short distance of the hostel. You can easily wander around the walkways and go on a ride with the famous old elevators in a few minutes. Besides you will get firsthand information on where to go... More

Stayed here for three nights in June. Good clean quiet rooms. Location is amazing and Alberto is a superb host. His advice and maps are fantastic for exploring the city. He even helped us plan for the rest of our time in chile. Highly recommended. More

We stayed in valpariso a little longer than planned due to this hostel, although more of a b&b. Alberto gave us such a good history of the two places, valpariso and vina del mar that we wanted to stay a little more. It's in a really quiet location on conception hill it's worth the steep walk up. Breakfast is adequate,... More

Alecon Fine Hostel is THEE hostel in Valparaiso. The owner is the best! My husband and I were only in town for 3 days and we literally saw everything thanks to the self-guided walking tours that the owner provided us. The location is perfectly centralized to view the city as a tourist and as a local. Restaurants, bars and cafes... More

We found the Alecon purely by accident, and totally lucked out. The location was great - easy to get to and in a safe area. It's at the end of a short street and is across from a little church. There are a couple of bars and convenience stores on the hilltop. The owner, Alberto, was very friendly and let... More

I won't repeat the other reviews, but it's like this in a nutshell: Alberto always puts in the extra effort, and really cares. If you can get a room there New Years Eve, jump at the chance. Bob More

We found this hostel by chance . However, several aspects of the Alecon Finehostel made it stand out amongst other hostels and hotels on our South American holiday. Alberto, who ran the hostel, made us very welcome. Alberto speaks excellent English, and he provided us with an enthralling oral history of various "cerros" of Valparaiso. Alberto also provided us with... More
