Stone Hotel is located a mere 500m walk from Aya Sofia. That makes it a perfect starting point for exploring the old Istanbul. The service was friendly, the rooms clean and the breakfast very good. First, Location....this hotel is situated a very easy walk to the Grand Bazaar, the tram stop to take you to the Bosphorus cruises & Egyptian market, and a very short walk to the Hippodrome/Hagia Sofia/Blue Mosque/Topkapi. Stayed in Stone Hotel for new year, but would not go there again. Entrance is on a slope with kitschy decor. The large double room I booked had 2 small high windows that faced a wall, so no daylight. This is a very nice hotel with an excellent breakfast and a great roof top lounge with a gorgeous view of Istanbul Harbor. It is a short walk to Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Underground Roman Cistern, Tram line, etc. You can pretty much walk to anywhere in Sultanahmet area or take tram to avoid the walking.
