Last time I was Istanbul, I left wondering if the hoteliers got the memo that non-smoking rooms shouldn't smell of smoke at all. Stayed 2 nights as part of a Gate 1 tour. Hotel was accessible via train from airport (15min walk) or tram (5min walk). The hotel is uphill from the tram station, but perfectly doable.
