We had an extremely lovely time staying at Ayasofya!! The hotel itself was quaint, personable, clean, comfortable and in a handy location to many of Istanbul's sights and attractions. It has a wonderful roof top terrace with fantastic views! Gaye, the Australian manager, Erdal and all the staff were all incredibly accommodating, lovely and very helpful, nothing was ever too... This was our third visit to Istanbul and the Ayasofya was by far our favourite hotel. The staff are helpful and personable, I felt at ease the moment I arrived. Our room was large and the bed Very comfortable. It is an older hotel, but Gaye has updated the amenities wonderfully, so we always had lots of hot water and... More

This hotel is full of friendliness; everyone wants to help you. The combination of an Australian manager, Gaye Reeves, and pleasant Turkish staff is helpful. Hotel has a lovely roof terrace where you can sit with a drink and see the ships entering the Bospurus. Situated on a quiet cobbled street in the oldest (southern) area of the city, remarkably... For many years now I am a regular visitor of Istanbul. The last five years I always stayed at the Ayasofya Hotel in the heart of the Old City. Because of its central location it's a good base to stay.Sultanahmed tramway and the places of interest with main attractions like Sultanahmed mosque, Hagia Sophia and Topkapi saray are just a... It is my second stay in this hotel, old Ottoman house, very well located just behind Sultanahmet and close to the Marmara sea cost, several strong points can justify my stay, part from its excellent location, the kindness and availability of the staff, the comfort of the rooms, simple but nicely arranged, the possibility to organise any tour on request.... We enjoyed our stay at this hotel very much. We paid the extra for a triple room to have more space for our five night stay and was given a large self contained flat with magnificent views over the water. Great location in the old town within walking distance of all major attractions. Gaye, the Aussie owner could not have... More

I stayed at the Ayasofya four times over three weeks, both as a solo traveller and travelling with my adult daughter. We had intended during our first stay to check out other hotels in the Sultanahmet area, for variety's sake. That plan did not last 36 hours. For travellers interested in heritage, the Ayasofya is absolutely ideally located: a few... More

My boyfriend and I stayed there for 3 nights. We arrived on a Monday evening exhausted from our flight and wanted a dinner not too far from the hotel. We asked the night concierge for recommendations and was given several pamphlets we said ok, and the next thinh we know we were at a restaurant with lousy food, pushy waiters... More

I am ashamed of this review and I wish to apologise to our guests. I have written to them separately. At the time they were here we had a new male receptionist who was with us for approx six weeks. We have two local restaurants which we recommend for tired guests when they arrive. One is Cesme about 50 metres... More

This charming hotel is tucked away in a cobbled street in the Sultanahmet district. It is an old Ottoman house that has been converted to a hotel and although our room was small, the bed was comfortable and everything functioned well. There is a roof terrace with lovely views over the Bosphorus where you can sit with a drink after... More

I stayed at the Ayasofya in Istanbul last week. It was spotless, beautifully painted and well kept, the breakfast was perfect, rooms very comfortable. But...what makes such a place is location and service. This little gem is 10 out f 10 on both fronts. Do not mss Gaye and her staff if visiting Istanbul.
