We were the only two people who were in the pool. We visited around 1 pm. It was an okay swimming pool but not very nice to lay down and relax. There are only typical Vietnamese small chairs around the pool. If you are looking for a quick refreshment and a dive then this is a good option.

I stayed here last week as a solo female for two nights in a two week trip around vietnam. It's a relatively good location, aware from the hustle and bustle of the old quarter but a ten minute stroll. A few moments aware from the oper house. The pool was a disappointment, not really an area to relax - two sunbeds and both broken. The rooms were spacious and clean with a bathtub and hairdryer. Breakfast is TERRIBLE. I wouldn't bother with it to be honest. Ok service from the staff. Some were friendly and some were not. Probably wouldn't stay here again.

If you are in need of a dip. 90K/pers. Open 6:30-21. Nothing to brag about. We brought a 4 year old so it was good. However I probably wouldn t go there on my own if the merqury didn t hit 40. But then I guess its very crowded then. I wouldnt eat there.

This doesn't look like a hotel from outside and is not very well-known. Rooms are very spacious, conference facilities are great and swimming pool is good. Need improvement with food and need better wifi. Honestly not worth the price!

This was the former Ministry of Defence and it is still an imposing building. Centrally located close to the Opera, it has two options the Army hotel and the MOD guesthouse. We stayed in the latter. The rooms are quite big there is wifi but not always working. There are also two swimming pools. Breakfast could be better with more fresh fruit and real coffee. It is not a bad place to stay

Arrived and as there was a break in the weather and it was sunny we headed straight for the pool. The whole time from basically the moment we sat at our lounge chairs we were hounded by hotel staff for 'room number room number!' We had a booking but hadn't checked it yet as we wanted to deflate and rest at the pool after many days of tours, buses, travelling etc etc. We wanted to be left alone to enjoy our pool. Told the pool staff repeatedly that we would check in later when our bags arrived from our bus (they were sent on different transport to the bus we were on). It got to a point where they started demanding money to use the pool. I spoke with check in and told them the situation. They got it and we were sorted. Or so we thought. For the next hour different pool staff kept coming and again being really annoying to the point I had to set them straight. And tell them sternly to go away as they were ruining our day. A couple hours later we left to get our bags from the shuttle bus that had arrived as organised so we could officially check in. We were followed into the street, by a staff member trying to get us to pay money for using the pool, which is free for staying guests which is what we were!!! It left such a bad taste in the mouth that we just didn't want to stay there at all. We canceled our booking due to their pushiness and booked a new hotel for the next few nights not far away where the staff were delightful, helpful and just lovely. There is NO way I would stay at MOD Palace, nor can I recommend it. The pool area staff just wouldn't let us be to enjoy our stay. I do NOT recommend this place, customer service is terrible. This is the first time I have ever written a negative tripadvisor review.

The door handle broke (they never came to fix it), black mold around the rim of bathtub, tight space between the desk and bed (keeps bumping my knees to the desk), horrible breakfast. I Need I say more? The campus and the location is quiet hat's is all the good things I can say about this hotel. Horrible value! If it weren't because of work that I need to stay here, I would have bolted and never had checked in!

Stayed here for 4 nights for a conference, would not have chosen it ourselves. This is the former Ministry of Defense, an imposing building, but badly in need of modernization. For some unknown reason, we were given what appeared to be the "presidential suite": 4 enormous rooms comprising a conference room (!), bathroom with jacuzzi and separate shower, dining room, and bedroom. The furniture is huge and dark and there was only one outside window (those in the bathroom were opaque and the others looked out onto a long, dark corridor), which was in fact french doors opening (with difficulty) onto a huge, very dirty terrace. Unique accomodation no doubt, but we would have preferred smaller, cleaner and more modern! There is an outside pool, with dirty, delapidated sun-loungers - almost impossible to get towels or seat-cushions. The breakfast was horrible, very little choice, lukewarm tea/coffee, omelettes prepared in advance getting cold & congealed in a greasy container - to be avoided! Location OK, near the Hanoi Opera. Would not stay here again.

the m.o.d. palace is located near the the old city (walking distance). the staff was friendly and was able to communicate in english. the hotel has two buildings, an older and a newer one. we stayed in the older part. as we entered the room, is actually smelled a little moldy, but after turning on the air condition, the smell disappeared quickly. the room in general was not in very good condition but it was ok. the bathroom was clean but here too, you could see that it was a really old building. there is free wifi in the hotel but the speed is very limited so surfing was a little exhausting.

We stayed in this hotel for a conference, and absolutely loved it. The staff were friendly, the rooms were spacious and very clean, and it was a nice area. It was also quite an old, and interesting building. I found it to be an excellent stay, and will definitely head back there if I am in Hanoi again.
