We have been to this hotel twice and the last time early 2012 a lot of people, including myself, got food poisoning. Out of 200 people I believe 25% to 30% got food poisoning or a stomach bug. Suan Bua is very relaxing. It's about a 45 minute drive from Chiang Mai city, so don't come here if you want to spend a lot of time around the town. If you're looking for a chance to get away from it all though, the Suan Bua is a great place to consider.

This hotel is about 30mins drive up a winding mountain road from Chiang Mai. The Suan Bua is up in the mountains about 30-45 minutes from Chiang Mai city. So, don't come here if you want to spend your evenings in the Night Market area. We stayed at this hotel during the conference. We travelled with 3 little kids (all under 3). Kids had a lot of fun just running around and exploring. We come to Suan Bua for a conference on alternate years. This was our fourth visit there. The place is so peaceful and beautiful. The spa is very nice and the food buffets are amazing. So many places to walk and sit out around the water. Gardens are beautiful.
