This hotel is right in the center of Thamel but set back so it's relatively quiet. The rooms are clean and adequate The showers are hot which is a big plus. Raj the owner was friendly and helpful. I went on a short trek and was able to leave my extra luggage in storage till I came back. I'm definitely coming back when I'm next in Kathmandu.

Recently stayed at Mount Annapurna Guest House for 3 Days/4 Nights. The first few days were ok but saw some red flags over the days. The good side of the Guest House is they have good hot showers and the room we had was very sunny. Noise was limited to from the side I was on. They serve food in the restaurant, but the menu is very limited to basics items. The issues here- The front desk reception kid was not very good. My girlfriend and I tried to communicate with him many times and he always seemed lost or didn't want to help us. He seemed frustrated that we first arrived and asked to see the rooms. The Guest House smelled strongly of smoke. A few customers who smoked in the halls and it travels to your hallway and rooms. When you walk up the stairs, you can see a lot of dead pigeons. Not the best place to stay. The water didn't smell to good on the last day at night time as well when I showered. Left a dirty, earthy smell. The big issue we had was we did our laundry and hung it up on the roof top. The next morning, all of our clothes looked like they were tossed on the ground in different places. (Thought it was the wind) but some clothes like my pants were very far from the rope. Ended up re-washing it and washed more clothes and hung it this time with clips so they don't fall. *Later that day in the afternoon we went upstairs and saw our clothes were tossed on to a very dusty table. Someone had touched our clothes and made them dirty. Noticed on the rope that a big family with multiple kids had moved our stuff and placed a lot of their clothes on the whole rope and on chairs. Asked the Guest House front desk kid and complained and his attitude was that he didn't care or do anything. We asked for the manager and then the manager didn't do a good job fixing the problem (says it sometimes happens). When we explained the situation, apparently the owner of the Guest House' family moved the clothes. Sorry to say this but when you take sides of the person who did it, and not the people who were done wrong, you lose a customer and get a bad review. Btw the manager said you are not allowed to wash clothes yourself (we were not aware of) and we were suppose to tell the staff if we are hanging up on the roof..but does it make it right for someone else to through our clean clothes on the dirty roof floor or a very dusty table? Apparently its on their website. They should have it on the door or a sheet of paper with rules and regulations like others places. The current Guest House we are in has it. This is called professionalism. Manager didn't even offer to pay for our laundry as well, when we said it was through down on the floor twice. He just said "It happens" I've travelled to dozens of countries in the world and seen many good and bad Guest houses. Would not recommend this place at all, unless you don't mind bad customer service, dark and dirty place or a manager who is not attentive to solve issues at the Guest House.

Exiting Nepal during a brief opening in the quarantine window was as dramatic as it was necessary. My host and friend, Mr. Parjol Giri of Hotel Green Tara in Lakeside, Pokhara arranged for my 3 night stay in Kathmandu in preparation for my flight back home to NYC. I needed to travel from Pokhara to Kathmandu ahead of time allowing for the mandated Covid test and results before boarding the flight to JFK so all I needed was a modest degree of comfort and the possible assistance of a competent and willing local should I need any with one or more of the unexpected twists and turns that often accompany international travel, especially in a place so far away from home where almost everything is strange, different and new. Those adjectives describe good things, in fact, they are the reasons I travel but they also include challenges which require an added measure of resourcefulness and assistance should they occur as they did almost the instant the taxi-driver dropped me off in front of the Mount Annapurna Guest House in Thamel.  The driver mistakenly drove off with my laptop which I also overlooked while he was unpacking my luggage before speeding off to his next stop. Wunderbar. Having surrendered my mobile phone in Pokhara I now had to rely on Mr. Raj Kumar Bhujelm, the host of the guest house to come to my aid. In an instant, as soon as he understood what happened he got on it, phoned the driver who refused to come back and return my property unless I agreed to pay him an additional 2,000 rupees, or I could meet him at his next stop, a good 25 minutes away by motorbike where he said he would wait (if I got there quickly enough). Nice. Mr. Bhujelm wasn't able to drive me himself because of the even/odd license plate restrictions that day so he had to quickly come up with an acceptable alternative, asking the proprietor of the sandwich shop next door to take me on his motorbike which I would tip him for. Together we chased down the taxi through the impossible dusty, alleys and uncertain bridges of Thamel and retrieved my lap top from the splendidly wonderful taxi driver. Aside from possibly a few more gray hairs, no harm done. My point is, Mr. Bhujelm wasted not a moment, nor was he deterred by any obstacle, from language to a stubborn taxi-driver to legal and technical logistics to solve the problems and solve them right away. He went instantly into 'solution mode' and as they arose, found the solutions and implemented them successfully. No pause, no stutter, no shoulder-shrug, no apologies, ultimatums or excuses. He just got it done.  Thankfully, the rest of my stay was less eventful but not less dramatic, from getting the test results in writing on time to finding just the right requested entree' for me to enjoy along with the house's fantastic cooking, maybe the best I had during my five months stay under lockdown in Nepal, definitely in Kathmandu, he put all his effort and experience into making my stay as comfortable, relaxed and pleasant as possible. In a word: impressive. Would I stay there again? Put it this way, next time I'm in town, I intend to. Danyaban Mr. Raj. Fere va' tola.

We stayed here for 3 nights when we arrived in Kathmandu and for a night when we departed. Importantly There was no street noise as it’s set back from the road a little. Bhim on the front desk was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was one of the best we had during our 3 weeks in Nepal. Bed was comfy, room clean and shower hot. Price very reasonable. Highly recommended

Location: good location, walking distance to everywhere in thamel and loads of taxis just outside if you want to go further Room: room is basic and insulation could be a bit better. Overall it was clean and enough for what we wanted for 1 night. Service: The owner was helpful and let us store our bags and gave us free bottled water. He also helped us book the night. bus to Pokhara for just 1100 nrs which was quite a bit cheaper than elsewhere.

The owner/manager mr. Raj Kumar was very attentive only at the time when he feels you can be a potential customer for his travel agency (located just out in the street). 1.- We ask if he personally new a good porter in Lukla. 2.- if we could pay in advanced 15 days and pay directly to the porter in case we take more than 15 days or receive a refund in case we take less than 15 days. He said the guide was his personal friend and no problem leave a deposit and when you are back you pay the difference or i refund the days you do not use.. no problem my friend!!! Well he arrange the porter, the park fees, the plane to and from lukla. when we arrived to lukla after been delayed 3 days in the airport for bad weather, we meet Magar Prakash, a guide lukla who introduce the porter, all good and off we went..The trek to everest base camp is fearly easy and the only limitation for us was the altitude... we had to stay for two nights at 4800 mts but aside of that we completed the trek in 8 days.. i have no idea how many times the porter wanted to stop to spend the night!! not even 3 pm and he started with his favorite sentence.... "we sleep here" he wanted to hike for 3 hrs a day!! and later i figure he knew we were going to do the trek pretty fast and will not complete the 15 days.... well the guide in charge was not in lukla as we arrived and show up 3 hrs later and drunk!!!! so, long story short, we got back to katmandu with Mr Raj Kumar and at first he said that if i really ask him for my money back of the days we did not used he would have to pay from his pocket, i said yes! thank you. but he was not serious, he was trying to make me feel bad for him... he did not even knew the guide in lukla.. anyway i got 50 % of my deposit and he kept 70 usd for a service he never provided!! The hotel is too expensive for what you get, we end up staying in HOTEL UTSE located half a block with great service very good restaurant bar, much better rooms and even a roof top...

I stayed here twice during my time in Kathmandu, both times for a few days each. The staff members and owner went above and beyond in service - including one night on an unexpected arrival they booked me into an alternative accommodation nearby when they were full. Everyone was always happy and helpful. The rooms were very clean and the corner rooms have a wonderful view with many windows. I also stored my bag here for the duration of my Annapurna Circuit trek. Safe, comfortable and cost effective. I highly recommend this place!
