My wife and I always wanted to stay at a tented camp on the Serengeti. When we booked through our travel agent (Wild Frontiers) we were told to expect very rough conditions - no hot water, A/C, and other modern amenities. Upon arrival at the Serona Airstrip we were promptly greeted by our guide who drove us to the camp... More

Details: - luxury tents with own bathroom and shower in the tent - entire place has an eco-friendly focus - attentive staff - delicious food and drinks (including alcohol) We woke up to the sound of a lion roaring and saw elephants running in the distance while walking to breakfast. Side note; they won't clean women's underwear (I think due... More

We stayed here 2 nights and were the only guests so we had the whole camp to ourselves. Everything you need is here and the food was delicous! Your foolish if you decide to stay in a lodge as this camp allows you privacy and the amazing experience to camp out in the serengeti. The tents are very big and... More

I was scared of tenting in the Serengeti, and we did have lions both nights. But as our safety share said, 'by lighting the lamps out front at night, the lions know not to go into the tent" LOL The food was good, they had a charging center, it was quiet, even the shower and toilet facility in the tent... Serengeti Wilderness Camp is a mobile tented camp where we stayed for two nights. Our tent was large with a very comfortable double bed, plus single bed, camp toilet, wash basin and bucket shower. The 20 litre shower is filled by camp staff at request and provides enough water for a good shower as long as you turn it off... More

These tented camps really are the way to go when on safari. This was my third time on safari to East Africa, and you just can't beat being in a tent, close to the animals, for the ultimate safari experience. Waking up to noisy lions and hyena is an experience you don't get in a lodge. The Serengeti Wilderness Camp... More

I'd been so hesitant to stay in a mobile tented camp. The thought of the bucket showers and the toilets which flush into the ground just horrified this city girl. However, now that I've returned and am looking back on such a wonderful experience, I wish I could go back today! The tents are large, bigger than some rooms in... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this camp. Claudio and the entire staff were so friendly that we hated to leave them! We agree with previous reviewers that if you're going to the Serengeti you should stay in a tented camp for the experience - and SWC was perfect. The grounds were beautiful and view from our tent veranda was... More

I can't say enough about this camp and the experience of staying in there while on safari in the Serengeti. We opted for this over a lodge and I'm so glad we did! The staff, service, accommodations and food were outstanding - so much luxury out in the 'bush' - and each night you get to fall asleep to the... More

After visiting the Serengeti, I can't imagine staying in an ordinary lodge. You can stay in a hotel anywhere, but in this great wilderness, camping is the way to go. The camp was set up in a remote area and was surrounded by many animals during the day, including giraffe, buffalo, zebra and elephants. At night, these animals, and others,... More
