This is a great little hide away, Kamal picked us up from Fez and took us on an amazing adventure through a Morocco we had not yet seen. His house is beautifully nestled in the hills of Bhalil. We toured the country side , through olive orchards, and olive oil plants, we saw the ancient cedar forest with wild monkeys,... More

Kamal is a hands-on energetic owner and host. He made sure that our stay was comfortable and that we had a personally fulfilling experience during our stay at Dar Kamal Chaoui. The guest house is tastefully decorated and very comfortable. Every decorating decision has a story, just ask. The meals (prepared by Naima) were delish! The small village location of... More

At this romantic retreat in an ancient Berber village, hear the Call to Prayer while you gaze down upon the sprawling expanse of Fez. Our stay in Bhalil, a half-hour from Fez, was dappled with friendly inhabitants, cave houses, children playing, fabulous meals, cozy nights, great conversations, and excellent day tripping. Our host, Kamal Chaoui, his family and their attentive... More

Coming from chaotic Casablanca, Dar KamalChaoui was the perfect place for a cosy weekend close to nature. No traffic. No noise. No 7th century mauresque mosaiques. But a warm house with a lot of charm. The host family, Kamal, Beatrice and Adam (their son) are extremely hospitable and will look after you almost like if you were an extension of... More

Kamal's place outside of Fes is the perfect option for those wanting to stay in a quaint village where daily Moroccan life is vastly untouched by tourism, a rarity in Morocco. Kamal's guesthouse is beautiful and clean, and Kamal's wife cooks a mean tajine and one of the best cakes I've had in my life. Kamal was a great host... More

Kamal and his family were extremely generous and accomodating. The water was warm, the rooms were cozy, the food delicious, the conversation good, and the rooftop had an absolutely wonderful view of Fez and the country surrounding it. I would recommend Kamal's to anyone traveling in the area!

Spending two nights with Kamal and his family provided us with an experience unlike that at other guest houses, in a good way. Firstly, it is located at the heart of a pastoral mountainside village, providing an "off the beaten track" feel to the stay there. Secondly, the set-up provided opportunities to closely interact with the hosting family and with... More

I had the pleasure of spending several days with Kamal and Beatrice last July and it was terrific. Dar KamalChaoui is located a little ways outside Fes in a small town called Bhalil where you can really relax and absorb a more genuine local Morocco. The rooms are spectacularly appointed and the food is wonderful, especially Beatrice's cucumber salad that... More

I had a good fortune to stay at Dar Kamal Chaoui guest house for just one night on my way to Marrakech after staying in Fez Medina. It was recommended to me by Helen Ranger who arranged my two-week trip to Morocco. Otherwise I would never found this GEM!. It was just too short of a stay but really fantastic... More

It was wonderful to see how enthusiastic Kamal is about Bhalil, but more so about the people living there. He gave me and my dad an excellent tour of Bhalil and Sefrou which was a welcome break from the ordinary tourist tours you are bound to do in other cities in Morocco. He really puts a tremendous amount of passion... More
