My partner and I stayed the weekend with our friends at The Churchill Hotel. This is where we stay when coming into the city(3-4 times a year), because of the unique property and friendly service we always experience. Great location and value. Housekeeping should be praised, because we have never had an issue with something out of place. The frontdesk... More

We stayed at the Churchill for four nights while touring Washington DC, right during Spring Break 2013. Our "Standard King" on the 4th floor was a decent size and had comfortably fit a roll-away bed (used by my brother for one night). There wasn't much of a view in our room but if you're in DC, it's pretty much a... More

A last minute business trip and The Churchill is where I ended up! What a pleasant surprise! I was in a very large king suite with a separate little office area- although my room faced Connecticut Ave. there wasn't as much traffic noise as I expected! The staff, especially Steven at the front desk and Humberto who brought me my... More

My wife and I (and many friends, in separate rooms) stayed here for a weekend wedding in the area. The hotel is historic and comfortable feeling, without being rundown. Our room was very small, but did have a good sized bathroom. The suite a friend had was very large, with a comfortable sitting area, but had a tiny bathroom. Depending... More

This is an old hotel with all the quirks (and not much of the quaintness) that goes along with that. It's 100 years old, so of course the floors squeak and the room had a weird layout. It seemed OK for cleanliness but it wasnt maintained to a high standard. The windows for example were incredibly dirty, so much so,... More

Overall my stay at the Churchill was mediocre. The staff was friendly and helpful, the best aspect of the hotel. The room, on the smaller side for American hotels, was fine, if a bit shabby. The cleaning during my stay was generally good but missed a few areas not in the middle of the room. The biggest issue was the... More

The Churchill is a beautiful old building with nice rooms and a good location if you need to be near the embassy area, and it's not far from the National Zoo. The Dupont Circle Metro station is about a half mile away and the Woodley Park Zoo Metro is a little further away. For sightseeing, this is a good location... More

For the money, good value. DC has loads of 3.5-4 * hotels, but for this location, it's quiet and serene setting is better than the chains. Downside is Internet not free and staff rather surly - they cater to "embassy families" and seem overworked. But hey, we're there for the sights, sounds and tastes in DC which is an increasingly... I booked The Churchill as a "change" from nearby modern hotels (chains)in the Embassy Row area, booked for my/our frequent visits to the Capital over the years and was not disappointed. It is an 8-story renovated former high-end apartment for diplomats, politicians, etc. built in the early 20th century with Beaux Art architecture. It faces the monstrous Washington Hilton (a... More

I was pleasantly impressed by the location (conveniently just up the hill from Dupont Circle) and the size of the rooms in the Churchill hotel which I booked as part of the last minute getaway. The price was fair as well. The one glitch in our stay was the old fashioned alarm clock in the room--we checked in on a... More
