Was lucky to be the only guest and ended up extending my stay an extra night. Rod let me tag along on a pig hunting trip and in the afternoon we went fishing on his boat. Fresh fish for dinner that night! The next day was kayaking in the inlet and drinks on the boat with some of the other... More

Blue Water Lodge was the venue of my first night's sleep on the 4 day hike on the Queen Charlotte Track. I was the only guest that night, and had a wonderful room with outstanding views. The food was excellent. Rod was really interesting, friendly, and helpful, and is passionate about and highly committed to the environment; it is quite... More

Of four places where we stayed in the course of walking the Queen Charlotte track, Blue Water Lodge stood out as the one in which we had the most enjoyable time. Our room - in a house built by our host - had a spectacular view over the inlet. The welcoming cup of tea on our foot-weary arrival, three course... More

We arrived here after a couple of hours hiking. Rob met us and offered us some refreshments. It felt like coming home. The place is located with a very nice view of the bay with amazing sunsets. Our photos from our room are spectacular. The dinner which is cooked for you is very good, a three course dinner. We got... More

We were lucky enough to have the lodge to ourselves for the night and Rod managed the perfect balance of providing good food and good conversation and also giving us the space to enjoy the lodge on our own. Small personal lodges like this one seem to be all too rare in the Sounds, but I recommend jumping at this... More

Good value for money. Perfect hideout on a high ground away from the usual accommodations near the endeavor inlet area. Good sound view. My family of 4 only meet another couple then. Had a great chat and knowing one another over our meals in this cosy house. Accommodation is good value for money in my opinion. Only setback is the... More

Our first choice was booked out so we ended up at Blur Water Lodge. What good luck! The 98 stairs were a challenge but Rod was waiting at to top of the steps with a cold beer. After a long days walking on a hot and sunny day it was like coming home only better - someone else was doing... More

We stayed here after the first of 4 days hiking on the Queen Charlotte Track. When we arrived at the sign, we were taken aback by the 98 steep steps up to the lodge (yes, we counted!) from the trail. But it was so worth it! Expansive views of the Marlborough Sounds in several directions from the wrap around deck.... More
