Refused entry as property said I hadn't told them about my dog. Which I did and they replied to. (See photo) and i even used the dog friendly filter when booking the room. It was all very civil and we were told we could have a refund as they had no dog friendly rooms left and that the refund would be processed the following day as booked through booking.com so we left, Frustrated but happy we would get a refund at least. The property has since refused to give a refund and said this conversation never took place. They also have sneakily updated their profile and added a pet policy. (See photos 1. Sent to my mum when booking 2. Now) Refusing us entry was horrible but going back on their word and saying we are lying is outrageous

Dear Francesca, We sincerely appreciate your detailed feedback regarding your recent stay with us. Your patience as we address the concerns you've raised is greatly valued. Upon reviewing the confirmation email provided, it is evident that our pet policy, including the availability of limited dog-friendly rooms and the recommendation to directly contact us for such accommodations, was clearly outlined. We recognize the significance of direct communication in promptly and efficiently fulfilling specific guest requests. Regrettably, this incident marks the first instance in over three years where we've had to decline a guest's request upon check-in. Had the request been included in the special requests section during booking, we would have been able to accommodate you in a dog-friendly room, as this would have been reflected in our system. While we strive to ensure clear communication and accommodate guest requests to the best of our ability, we acknowledge the possibility of misunderstandings in certain cases. Our standard procedure involves encouraging guests to reach out to us directly to confirm the availability of dog-friendly rooms, particularly during peak periods when such accommodations are limited. This measure is in place to prevent any potential misunderstandings arising from the limitations of online booking systems. Additionally, we've made efforts to clarify our pet policy on third-party booking platforms like Booking.com, although we recognize that certain details, such as which rooms are not dog-friendly, may not be as prominently displayed compared to our direct website. We deeply regret any inconvenience this situation may have caused you. Please know that it was never our intention to cause frustration or inconvenience, and we even offered the option to proceed with your stay without your dog, although we understand why this may not have been feasible for you. Your feedback is invaluable to us, and we have taken steps to enhance our communication processes moving forward. If you have evidence of our confirmation of your dog-friendly room request, please forward it to us, and we will gladly proceed with the refund as promised. Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention, and we sincerely hope for the opportunity to welcome you back under more favorable circumstances in the future. Warm regards, Josh

Have always paid more for less in other similar 'Inn' accommodations in the region. Was more than pleased with the comfort, dining, level of friendliness from the staff and generally the appeal of the buildings, both inside and out. Being situated within an attractive area and village was a bonus.

There are currently only 4 rooms only accessible by a flight of stairs so not suitable for guests who can't climb the stairs. However, they are adding some new rooms at ground level which will be accessible. As part of the renovations, they are replacing an old boiler system which has impacted the water pressure in the current rooms. I didn't bother to try and wash my hair on my second day as it would taken far too long to wash out the shampoo! Also no charger in the bathroom for toothbrushes etc. Otherwise the room was clean and roomy. The breakfast (full Northumbrian) was delicious and very filling. Everything including black pudding was cooked perfectly.

Dear DozzaUK, Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We're glad to hear that you found our rooms clean and roomy, and we're delighted that you enjoyed our delicious full Northumbrian breakfast. We apologise for any inconvenience caused by the water pressure issue during your stay. We've since resolved this by installing a new boiler system as part of our ongoing renovations. Additionally, we appreciate your feedback regarding the lack of charger in the bathroom, and we'll certainly take this into consideration for future improvements but we do have adapters on sight to charge these items in your bedroom. We're excited to announce that we've also completed the new ground floor bedrooms, ensuring accessibility for all guests. We hope this will enhance your experience during any future visits. Thank you once again for your feedback, and we look forward to welcoming you back for another enjoyable stay. Warm regards, Josh General Manager

Nice and peaceful, looks as if they are upgrading the rooms at the rear, but that had no impact on my stay. The room was cool when I arrived, but some warmed up when I popped the radiator on, Nice comfy bed and an excellent supply of warm drinks, not your usual 2 sachets of sugar, etc, Nice Tassimo machine, I was late going for dinner I didn't check closing times arrived 10mins before the kitchen closed, but the meal they supplied was fantastic. Nice log fire in the bar area as well
