Stayed here only for one night on business - but have to say that I will be visiting again whether it be on holiday or on business. The reception given by Geoff and Sarah make you feel welcome straight away. The guest house is really 'home from home'. The room 'daffodil' was excellent (a little small perhaps but had a... More

This was my first stay at a B&B , usually opting for a chain hotel when I'm working away. The Goonearl was fantastic - excellent location , excellent hosts, sparkling clean rooms, and to top it all a cracking breakfast. No more Pr**ire inns for me !!

A very nice appointed Guest House situated in very nice gardens. Geoff & Sarah our hosts gave us a great welcome. We had a small room with balcony of which I must say was small but was beautifully decorated and clean. The en-sute bathroom was also compact but well put together with a superb shower. Breakfasts were fine w3ith a... More

We were 12 weeks into our 17 week round the World holiday, when we were disappointed with the accommodation we had prebooked in Porthtowan. Happily, a landlady in Porthtowan took pity on our plight and found a room for us at Goonearl Cottage. It was the best thing that could have happened to us. Sarah and Geoff, together with their... Let`s put one thing straight this is a guest house, that means although you pay you are paying to be a guest in a house. Also to people who complain about the size of room it gives all room sizes on the web site. We stayed together for a few days and I stayed behind for work in the area... More

PROS: - A very nicely presented large family home that's converted into B&B. - Everything was spotless and well maintained. - The hosts were very friendly and welcoming. - Free wifi. CONS: - 8am is the earliest they'd start breakfast which is rather late for business use, when I asked if they'd do it any earlier, Geoff moaned about how... More

A lovely cottage offering friendly service and a good mostly locally sourced breakfast. Ideally situated just off the A30 the cottage allows easy access to most of Cornwall's beauty spots. The king-size bed was comfortable but the room was overall very small with little room to move with comfort. This is just a small quibble and the overall quality was... More

Thank you very much for your review, we are glad that you enjoyed your stay and look forward to seeing you again. The reason why the bed is so big is because it is also used as a twin bed to offer an extra service in this room. Please check website for sizes as we are a cornish cottage and... More

Though the rooms were quite small, Sarah and Geoff had provided everything we could have asked for- clean towels, a bathrobe and fresh milk. The decor is all a bit 1980's but spotlessly clean. It would have been nice to have a dedicated guest lounge as sometimes we felt like we were intruding on our host's lounge while they were... More
