Queenstown is unique. An example of how mining has obliterated a landscape in a isolated, unpopulated, rugged and stunning location. The house is a beautiful example of a stately home in the Federation style. Beautiful wood, large rooms, grand staircase wonderfully displayed and all built for the first mine manager in the area. Such a contrast to the worker shacks... More

We only stayed 1 night at the start of April 2013 but would highly recommend this place. It has a full size snooker table, beautiful grounds, warm, spacious and comfortable rooms and very pleasant hosts. The breakfast was also excellent and our son was very happy to have pancakes made especially for him!

Deluxe accommodation in 1898 mansion. Authentic restorations, this is truly a worthwhile place to stay. The couple running the place are excellent, and make great breakfast and will also cook you an evening meal. The grounds are beautiful, with sweeping views of the surrounding mountains. Dont forget to watch Mount Owen turn red at sunset right in front of your... More

Penghana is a National Trust property on top of a small hill overlooking Queenstown and set in very pleasant gardens. Access is by a driveway leading to the street at the back of the house and plenty of parking is available. The centre of town is only a short 5 minute walk away. We stayed in the Owen room and... Beautiful historic home in an a town that is some what challenged in that area. Lovely garden setting and friendly hosts. Having stayed in many such places it just lacked the class that you would expect from a home of that quality. I am maybe being a bit hard but it seems that there are a lot of average places... More

Lovely old elegant home. Lovely views. Thank you Maureen and Bill for making me very comfortable. Very clean throughout With large rooms and great breakfast. The price was a little more than I wanted to pay but it's in a mining town where everything is expensive. Trogon62
