This is just to warn other people so it does not happen to them. My wife and I stayed at this hotel last week and two guys broke into our bungalow in the middle of the night. The hotel is all bungalows and the back of the hotel has completely open access from a boardwalk on the beach and no... More

We stayed at Bahia las Ballenas for 5 nights and found a fabulous location far from the Mekka of All Inclsive Resorts. The authentic DR! A real Paradise with gorgeous beaches. The Bungalows are in a big well kept green sorrounding, very charming and romanic ambience. Nice Pool, wonderful breakfast and in the Restaurant very friendly and smily staff. (not... More

I fell in love with this place after seeing our lovely villa! Far apart from the other villas it makes you feel like you are in a private island. The room was spacey and comfortable. Having the bathroom "outside" was a nice touch. Breakfast was nothing special and service a bit slow, but the surroundings are beautiful. You can rent... More

We booked this place for a two night stay but we left the next day. The room we got was very spacious and nicely decorated but was very musty. I was not into the outdoor bathroom, which also had an interesting odour. The breakfast that was included was not good so we didn't try anything else. We were hoping that... More

I arrived at Bahia Las Ballenas for a three-night stay in September 2012. I first heard of the hotel from Tablet Hotels.com. The photos on the Tablet website were very misleading, and made the rooms look much more modern and well-maintained than they actually are. However, the rooms were clean and although there were some basic maintenance issues (e.g. broken... More

The hotel is calm & clean and the staff is very attentive. It's a great place to read in a hammock, jog on the beach, relax by the pool or go on an adventure in the town, which the hotel can help accommodate. The manager is French and knows how to cater to his guests. Large bungalows with outdoor private... More

Bahia las Ballenas sits on a crescent of sandy beach that looks a little like the north shore in Kawaii, although not nearly as developed. The water is clear, rock free, even seaweed free, which made it so much nicer than the Southern California beaches I'm used to. The hotel is the most charming of the string along that crescent,... Just returned from a week in the Dominican Republic, most of it spent at Bahia las Ballenas. Located in a beautiful, somewhat remote part of the island, it's tranquil, uncrowded and welcoming in every way. This time of year you have the heat - at least we did - but you also have the place virtually to yourselves. That doesn't... More

Very nice place....right on the beach. Large bungalows bedrooms. Very good restaurant with a french chef. All the staff is french, because the owner is French...all, very friendly and helpfull, and generous. I went there to do a photo shoot for a British company. We had a great time and it was really easy to work. Go there...it is perfect.

After an exciting ride over the mountain. Drive four wheel drive it makes the journey easier. Once you are there you are transported to a fantastic hospitality in wonderful surroundings. The houses are simply furnished but with an elegant and romantic feel. Try to get one of the bungalows closest to the beach, watching the sea is always nice. Do... More
