Leaving here after three wonderful nights almost brought a tear to my eye. Too many highlights to mention, and in no particular order, we particularly loved: the large, comfortable and beautifully decorated suite; the oasis that was the garden; the hot tub, especially on a grey day; the welcome and untiring courtesies from our hosts; and fresh, hearty continental breakfasts.... My partner and I travelled throughout New Zealand and Australia in March and Kaikoura in general and the Lemon Tree Lodge in particular were the highlight of our visit. The town is wonderful - we went whale watching and swimming with dolphins. We had stayed in Lemon Tree Lodge before, about ten years ago, when it was owned by a... More

This small Boutique Hotel has only a few rooms and we were lucky enough to get one overlooking the town and the coast. The views were great, from mountain to beach in one easy move! The accommodation is excellent, a very nice sitting room which looks straight out onto the patio and beyond, perfect for having a relaxing breakfast (... More

Very comfortable room containing bed, settee, table , chairs , fridge etc. We appreciated the little touches - good quality chocolate, fresh fruit in out room daily and the welcoming glass of wine on arrival. We had superb breakfasts on our deck in the garden looking out over the blue sea. Nothing was too much trouble for Rosmarie and Ivo.... More

We had two rooms with garden views, beautiful rooms with cool art work. This is the most peaceful and serene location imaginable. We were welcomed with a cold glass of wine from the most gracious host. His tip on where to eat lead us to the best meal we'd had in NZ, though I can't remember it's name - sorry!... More

This was an amazing place to stay, fantastic room overlooking the bay, some wonderful touches such as chocolates and fruit and very friendly and helpful hosts. We had the lavender room on the first floor and were lucky enough to have sunny blue skies which allowed us to have breakfast on our patio. The breakfast was wonderful and set us... More

We had a lovely room with spacious decking overlooking the bay - just sorry that the weather didn't allow us to eat outside for breakfast. Breakfasts were very good and delivered to the room. The room had some lovely touches- fruit, chocolate each day and wonderful toileteries. The bathroom was lovely and smelt gorgeous - a big vase of lavender.There... More

My husband and I stayed here for just one night, although we wish we could have spent longer, and we loved it. The hosts really have spent a lot of time in making it what it is and we would highly recommend staying here. The room and bathroom were clean and tidy and had a really fresh feel to them.... More

Lovely accommodation: a little chalet with three rooms - bedroom with high-quality bed, sitting room and bathroom, separated by sliding doors. It was well furnished and brightly decorated, with carefully chosen ornaments and artwork. Everything was just right and had clearly been done with a lot of thought and care. They have a wonderful garden too. Breakfasts are pre-ordered and... More
