The Charles Court is a very basic ordinary hotel. By NZ and world standards this is no way a 4-star motel. I would look at other options, particularly considering it was not centrally located. Helpful staff. Clean rooms. Renovated 70s style. New furniture. Playground was questionable and in need of repair. Laundry onsite. Drive in adjacent to your room. Walk to the beach, which although it is very rocky, is a really nice spot to watch the sunset over the ocean. Reasonable place for a stop-over.

have just stayed here and a lovely unit with kitchen facilities,parking outside your door,only problem for some maybe it is a wee way out of town if you have no transport,the beach is through the back gate,we had a spa bath in our room,the hosts are really helpful,was only 1 night and shocking weather but would return anytime to here
