This hostel is 2 minutes from the beach and right on the shopping and food strip! The rooms are directly above a bar but it is surprisingly quiet upstairs. We were in on a Saturday and had no problems with noise. The room itself was small and clasterphobic but we were out on the town most of the time anyway.... More

I arrived there and the first thing I have seen in my bed were dust and dirt. I asked to change which was no problem. After making my bed again I that the blanket is quite disgusting and the linen partially black. I guess they were all very old.

Unfriendly receptionist, the older gentlemen whom was the manager was always moody so ya never know if he's in a bad mood, & the cleaning staff was also unfriendly. Kitchen had water all over the floors and cockys. They often forgot about milk or toast and coffee for brekky. Komune would be better even though they dont have a kitchen.... More

I stayed here one night on my way from Brisbane to Byron. I had heard great things about it, but it wasn't anything special to be honest. They have a restaurant and bar in house. I knew some people staying there, but aside from that didn't reallt meet anyone else there - not very social. They have a nice deck... More

Very nice hostel to stay with your friends. It is clean and organized. The kitchen is good and have everything you need. The toilets are good in general and the recpnists are really nice except if you need to go up with drinks even if you are not gonna drink them.

The beds are super-comfortable and there was a big locker for each bed with charging plug inside. The pillows are thin but you get that. Aircon was efficient and quiet. My room had a door out to the verandah with big day beds - a really great place to chill out during the day. It's right across the road from... More

The head receptionist was extremely rude and unkind. She is the last person that a backpacker wants to see when you are jet-legged and tired. Like the the comment above, everything works well but I would rather be in a terrible room with no air-con than a place with a horrible vibe amongst staff. Go at your own risk but... More

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Coolangatta Sands over a weekend and loved it! It is close to everything and has a great pub downstairs. Everything was clean and we had a great weekend. We stayed at another hostel the night before, and it didn't compare to the Sands.

This place was pretty decent. We've stayed in a lot of hostels and this place has the basics sorted (big lockers with plug sockets in each, good security & plentiful clean bathrooms during our visit). Good location and the staff from memory were friendly. The downside was our room. Part of a group someone else booked the room, so I'm... More
