In the early part of April 2013 –We toured extensively around the south Isle of New Zealand. By the time we arrived at Dock Bay Lodge, we had enjoyed several fine B&B’s and other comfortable accommodation. We arrived at Dock Bay on a wet afternoon and we were met with a warm friendly greeting at the front door by Dawn... More

Dock Bay Lodge was truly amazing. Being part of a wedding party that stayed here, from the moment we arrived to the moment we left we felt so welcome. The whole place is breath taking and you can find yourself a spot anywhere to sit down, relax and enjoy stunning views. The service provided from daily cooked breakfasts, fresh baking,... More

Where to start?! We held our wedding at Dock Bay Lodge in February this year and could not have picked a more perfect venue! Our host Dawn really was such a trooper! She went above and beyond to make our wedding week run as smoothly and as stress free as she could. She went out of her way to make... More

It was an absolute pleasure to host you and your wedding party. You had done such an amazing job of organizing everything which is why your wedding day was so perfect. We wish you both all the best for your future together, we know you will be very happy. More

From the minute we walked in the door and met our host Dawn, we felt at home. The accommodation superb, balcony with lovely views over the golf course and the bay beyond. Sadly only there one night, but a good excuse to return and enjoy both the Lodge again and maybe a round of golf! Dawn and Mark have built... More

Dock Bay Lodge is everything their website promotes. It is located in an excellent spot just out of Te Anau, but close enough to town for dinning out etc. The lodge is built to ensure guests enjoy both the views, and privacy from other guests. The minute you walk in the place you are welcomed by Dawn (our host) and... More

Thank you for taking the time to write on Trip Advisor. We really enjoyed your company and of course everyone has been so lucky with the fantastic weather, I cant remember such a long hot summer in Te Anau. We have had some rain now and the lawns are quickly greening up again and do look a lot better. Take... More

A bit of a schlep out of town, the rather unprepossessing frontage as you approach what was the most expensive property we stayed in made our hearts sink. But any misgivings we felt were soon dispelled once we were through the front door and found this luxurious accommodation built and furnished to the highest possible standard with magnificent views accross... This is the friendliest "House Stay" in NZ. Dawn makes the tastiest and healthiest breakfast and their Jack Russell, Colin, provides plenty of entertainment, However the highlight for me was being able to walk out of their French doors and onto the 11th fairway of a classic Southern Hemisphere golf course at 7 am. I had the course to myself... More

When I stay in these boutique bed and breakfast locations, which are almost unique to New Zealand, I judge them on three criteria. The layout out of the property and the rooms sense of specialness. That the property is hosted and offers a full concierge service and our hosts are passionate about offering hospitality. The quality of the breakfasts. In... More

We have stayed in several lodge style accommodations during our 2 trips to NZ and DBL is the one which does it perfectly. We stayed for the first time in Jan '11 and had to include it in our recent trip in Jan '13 as we had enjoyed it so much. It is the perfect mix of friendliness and professionalism,... More

We only had the opportunity to spend one night at Dock Bay Lodge however that was enough for us to decide that we will return one day. Dawn was a gracious and generous hostess. The rooms were wonderful, the view glorious and the food plentiful.

Jinny thank you for taking the time to review our Lodge. We enjoyed meeting you and are sorry the weather was so wet while you were here but trust you had a great day out on Doubtful Sound as it is spectacular in the rain. Best wishes for 2013 More
