We stayed here for two nights. Our room was very comfortable, though the shower was very low and not powerful. Breakfasts were yummy and our hosts made us feel welcome. The location was quiet, and just five minutes walk from the centre of the village and some nice restaurants. More

We were 2 couples and loved the friendly B&B welcome from the owners Merle & Cliff. The bedrooms had private bath & toilet facilities and they were lovely & clean. Breakfast was a choice of continental or cooked. Great location, only 1 block from the main shopping area and a 5 minute walk to the lake. I would recommend this... More

The House of Wood B & B is a great accommodation in a convenient location. Hosts Meryl and Cliff are welcoming and fun to chat with. The rooms are clean and well appointed, and the breakfast is very special. More

The House of Wood is a beautiful place -- with an excellent location -- close to everything. We loved our room and our hosts. Homemade jellies and breads! Yummy!!! Reasonably priced. Anyone that we know traveling to New Zealand we will definitely send to House of Wood. Enjoy. More

This was my first visit to New Zealand. The folks at House of Wood immediately made me feel welcome and it was quite similar to feeling at home. I really appreciated the interaction with them. I did not feel "here it is contact us if you want anything". Casual conversation enable me to really get to know NZ. They were... More

Clean rooms, quiet, generous breakfast (not extra), nicely decorated. Not the most central but still only a 5 min walk to Lake, two blocks from shops and restaurants. Good value for money. More

We chose to stay in Te Anau because it was close to Doubtful Sound. Last minute change of reservation at House of Wood worked out well despite staying in the one room without a private bath. Bathroom down the hall was impeccably clean, bathrobes were provided in the room. Wish we would have been planning more time in Te Anau... More

We used Te Anau as the base for our trip to Milford Sound. Merele and Cliff make you very welcome at the House of Wood. Although the rooms are not particularly spacious (compared with similar accommodation elsewhere in NZ), they are very comfortable indeed and quite unique - as is the house itself.. Friendly tasty breakfasts with other guests round... More
