Good central location. The facilities for cooking are excellent, clean and with a nice lake view. The rooms are good, comfortable and we got a lot less street noise than we thought we would(It is Party Town , NZ) The staff were very helpful, even arranging some lovely weather when we were there in Feb 2013

Perfect spot if you want a single/double room & not to overpay, reasonably priced, absolutely bang central & most of the staff were really helpful A bit noisy but I think maybe i'd just gotten unlucky - if you opt to become a yha member you can get free wifi (a rarity in NZ!)

5.3.13 We moved from Lakeside to stay 2nd night upon arrival as Lakeside fully booked. Another good hostel. Good ensuite double room with patio area. Nice size room with drink making facilities and hostel has good kitchen facilities with balcony overlooking harbour. Good value considering cost of alternatives. Nice location although no parking nearby, just 5 minutes unloading. Can park... More

Excellent 4 day stay in in ensuite double (room 203 next to kitchen). Upon arrival staff were excellent during checkin process and were able to switch our room from front of building to quieter room next to kitchen - this was requested due to the building work at front of building. Room was perfect and met our needs. Good value... More

Definitely not the best YHA around, but far from the worst. Average is a good summation. The beds were reasonable, the shower clean and the water hot. The door was a bit loose, didn't feel hugely secure, and could hear everything going on outside, but for $100 for a double en-suite in Queenstown, overall not too shabby.

Stayed here for 4 nights in a 4 bed en suite mixed dorm room. Strange that YHA are renovating the front facing exterior of the building. The rooms, interior in general and prices are more in need of an urgent upgrade. The mattress and pillow case were very uncomfortable. Not enough hooks or socket points. Shower and en suite was... Had a nice stay in Queenstown, hostel is centrally located. We rented a private ensuite room and it was perfect for our needs, Due to its location it is a little noisy from the street. It wasn't too bad considering it was New Years. The hostel was safe and secure. All in all we had a nice stay here. Plenty... More

This place is kind of dated but very functional with good sized double rooms. The kitchen is very nice with amazing views of the lake. the reception was open regularly and offered trip/activity booking and advice. You can't beat the location and it was very quiet for the 4 nights we stayed there. Wifi was cheap and relatively fast. We... More

This was our first stay in a YHA and it was very good. We had a triple room for two of us so it had a double and single bed and a good size ensuite. There was a kettle in the room and a flat screen TV. It did get quite stuffy in the room with no air con but... More

We stayed in room #132 and #133 with ensuite and full kitchen. Pluses +Right in the middle of town +Super friendly and helpful staff. They entertained all of our questions about the various activities available and helped us choose things to do. Minuses -Because of how central the location is, there is no parking -This also goes for the noise... More
