This place have everything a backpacker needs; nice and clean rooms, good showers, nice and well equiped kitchen, nice atmosphere and friendly and very helpful staff. Also a nice relax area where you always meet other nice travellers. We travelled by car and parking can be a challenge near the hostel.

Stayed with two friends visiting NZ. Great service. Really cool theme. Location not so great. Rooms were really nice. Very fitting for Dunedin. Plus the staff really know the area so make use of their advice. Cute dogs too

Great hostel, centre location, we were upgraded to twin room. Only problem is the hilltop location if you have a big bagpack might be difficult. good view in common area, kitchen is great with big space for guests to cook. Lovely host and dogs.

Friendly hostel with a good atmosphere. Close to everything you need, including the octagon for artsy type events. Is a little dated and worn, kitchen and bathrooms are newer but the latter are rather infrequent.

Needs modernising. Furniture, beds, kitchen – all a bit worn. Dorm room smelt damp. Little signs everywhere explaining the rules put me in mind of a boarding school dormitory, not a modern hostel. Bathrooms quite new, but insufficient for the number of guests. No free wi-fi. Positives: clean and close to town.
