Stayed two times in two weeks, got a great deal, staff were very pleasant and check in prompt, clean and quiet. City is so close. Tv was very small and temperature hard to regulate in the room. Would definately stay again.

Booked close to the Viaduct as we had an engagement at Swashbuckles so it was great to be able to walk to and back again. Hotel rooms are a little tired so you do get what you pay for but the price was right, the room was clean and the location was central. The TV was pretty tiny and the room (supposedly a suite!) wasn't big but it certainly met my needs.

Stayed on a saturday night, when CBD is usually noisy. This hotel was pretty quiet. Room was a bit tired and smelled a little like it hadnt been used for a while. Otherwise fine. I'd stay there again.

We stayed for two nights at the Grand Chancellor in Central Auckland. The hotel is clean, but our room could of done with a refurbishment, due to cracked tiles on the floor, and dated bathroom. The hotel was busy, and provides an adequate stopover for a few nights in Auckland inorder to explore the city.

Pro: close to viaduct. Period Cons: 19 in ch tv, noisy with construction 6 feet away all day, poor maintenance, door handles falling off, 1 of 2 lifts broken for a week, 1 bedroom suite smallest ever seen, pokey bathroom, pokey everything. Great view of driveway, king bed not even queen sized. Smelt of smoke, explained by presence of ashtray.... More

I stayed at the Grand Chancellor for 8 days as part of a month long trip to the southern hemisphere. The location is ideal, very central to all the major attractions. We booked over Easter and ended up with a one bedroom apartment on the first floor. Price was great, rooms were tidy and spacious, and the views were at near gound level. But TV was small (around 18in) and the shower over the bath was a disappointment, with a low mounted shower head and about 2ft-wide space to shower in.... More
