The Base auckland was our first stay in NZ .. we had the double ensuite room and was a pleasant surprise. For the price, the place was clean friendly and bang in the centre of the city. Everything is close by from here. Only issue is the parking!! man that was a pain!!

Place is alright, Super safe, clean, great location. Should have maybe picked a smaller hostel that felt less like a hotel trying to make money. Staff ok, nothing wrong with it, just nothing great. Internet costs $4 and have to pay for a towel, a little lame in my opinion.

Fantastic location, has what you will need, often with surcharges. Stayed in a twin with shared bathroom. Little noisy, rooms and bathrooms both need a lick of paint and a handyman. Good for a crash, towels provided, as is soap.

I was there last year on my nz journey and i must say base backpackers hotel is a good choice if you want to stay in central auckland..The hotel is close to everything and a good place to start exploring auckland.

Stayed for a week in March with two friends. We had a room to ourselves, so had no problem with our belonging being secure.
