We stayed at Amberley House for 5 nights from 14 March in the self contained apartment at the rear of the house and absolutely loved our time there. The apartment suited us as we had a kitchen and private lounge and still had access to the breakfast served in the communal dining room each morning. The breakfast was genourous with... More

After other reviews we were prepared for the 21st century keypad and speaker entry. It becomes obvious once inside, that decor has been done "to a generic hotel standard" white/cream/biege. Beautiful old house and building appears well maintained outside - but pity about a variety of little things inside. Guest lounge had used glasses/teapot/cups-saucers at 3 pm and they were... More

Due to a festival in Hobart we had a lot of trouble booking a room in Hobart and ended up paying a very high price to stay here for one night. It's tizzy and a tad stuffy for my liking. Bed was comfortable and it was very quiet (we were away from the main road). Shower was tiny and the... More

This is an old house which has been nicely decorated and well presented, if you like old fashioned charm (which we do). I was phoned a couple of days prior to our stay and asked to provide my email address so that an email with arrival information could be sent, which duly arrived, including a passcode for the front door... I arrived at 5.30. No-one there - had to speak to someone on the phone at the door and retrieve my key from a safe on the wall. Room very ordinary - no full-length mirror - always a problem if a business trip. TV out of the ark and reception very poor - only an internal aerial - basically unwatchable.... More

I stay here about 7 or 8 years ago & it had been newly renovated & it was good. This stay was very disappointing. The spa room I booked looked ok on initial glace- but as I sit in the chair by the window I see dust on the tv cabinet & the bedside table that is very thick- it... More

We stayed at this place during the busiest weekend in Hobart – The Wooden Boat weekend or something. We were attending a wedding. We could not believe the size of room 8, which we were allocated ! It was honestly a fair sized 1-bedroom apartment! There was a lounge first, then you walk into a full kitchen, then through to... More

The person left running the place had to ring around to find us somewhere else to stay. She claimed that we were not the first guests to be double booked over the Xmas holidays & that the owners had left for a trip overseas. We waited inside & the place place looked faded & dingy. I think that we had... More

After my previous bad experience with this "hotel" I stayed there again after being offered a significant discount. Nothing has changed, poor service, cold empty rooms, pathetic breakfast. They are seriously not in the hospitality business they need to cease trading.

Spent two nights at this place and would have stayed longer had it not been for such a bad experience. Things got off to a bad start when we found there to be no hot water in the room that we had (which had a very cramped ensuite bathroom). The room was also very cold and could only be heated... More
