Our booking with the Islington was made with some trepidation because of the expense, and because we expected we would miss another opportunity to stay at the excellent Henry James Art Hotel. Instead, we received absolutely impeccable service from Ashleigh (the concierge/manager/cocktail barman) and a fantastic dinner. Our room was elegant without being over the top. A local friend fell... More

From the moment we arrived at the Islington, we were treated to a unique experience. The service is truly impeccable and attention is given to every minute detail to ensure a wonderful experience. Strongly recommend staying at the Islington. Deserves top ranking.

What the Islington offers is something quite different from a hotel experience. It is like arriving at a country house complete with the peace and tranquility that being away from it all can bring The decor and layout of the house make you feel that this place is special and the welcome we received from the host made us feel... Thank you for the lovely feedback. The WiFi issue is worrying even though it is very rarely a problem. Telstra is in the process of changing to optic fibre for the National Broadband Network, occasionally there is a drop in signal strength as a result. At these times we encourage the use of our large screen iMac in the morning... More

We stayed here for two nights and opted for the small attic room at the top of the house which was fine for us with very little luggage. The room was beautifully appointed, with a great bathroom and amenities. The conservatory area was fantastic, especially for whiling away afternoons with a selection of magazines, tea and cake. We had dinner... More

I must apologise to these guests whose night was disturbed by other people being too loud. We almost never get raucous guests (touching wood now) and it is very disturbing to know that the quiet sleep we promise was not delivered. I have since double glazed the windows in the Attic room and hope this has alleviated the problem. We... More

Stayed 5 nights, mostly in a room giving onto the tranquil garden, very quiet, staff most helpful, breakfasts addictive, evening meals (from supper of toasties to confit chicken) delicious. We'd be very happy to come back

It’s very reassuring to read this review from such a well travelled guest, all the things we like to think we do well get a nod. ‘tranquil garden...delicious food...most helpful staff...very quiet.’ Cheers. More

Beautiful setting and ambience excellent. Had Garden Room for 2 days, excellent! Service and staff VG. Moved to attic for last night due to inability to extend, very small for two suit cases and stairs not desirable.

Thanks for the great feedback and yes you are right the Attic room is not desirable for those travelling with a lot of luggage. This room is designed for corporate guests and last minute, one night stays. We suggest all our guests travelling from interstate and overseas to book into a Garden, Regency or Signature room. More

Islington is a very small hotel with a warm and cosy atmosphere. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The rooms were a good size. Felt we got value for money. The included breakast was delicious and we ate dinner there one night too which was our best meal in Hobart. Location is the only downfall- it is about... More

Yes Islington is a little way out of ‘downtown’ Hobart. We find the advantages of being away from the ruckus of the nightclubs and waterfront bars appeals to our guests. The tranquillity of Islington’s gardens along with our charmingly appointed sitting rooms reflect a gentler pace, one for reflection on the days adventures without having to fight your way across... Our group of 6 friends stayed at the beautiful Islington Hotel before and after our Maria Island Walk. From our first introduction to the hotel, we felt very welcome and relaxed...a very up- market home away from home. Nothing seems to be too much trouble right down to providing a light meal on a late arrival to a beautifully prepared... More

We hear so many good things about the Maria Island Walk, such a civilised way to do a walking tour. End each day with a 3 course meal with matched wine, start each day with a hot shower and one of the world’s most acclaimed sunrises. Then of course check in to The Islington for a bubble bath and a... More

First class, from chiefs cooking to old school antiques and great open spaces. Loved every minute. Recommend to anyone and every one. Now just writing to hit 200 characters. This might be he last time I write a review. Too hard to it 200

Gorgeous historical house, with lovely rooms . We stayed in newer section and although decor was mixed with old and new it made for a lovely setting. Breakfast was great and the chef is a credit to this hotel. Only downfall was that we felt it was overpriced in comparison to the many similar places we have stayed in.
