We stayed at Seaview Lodge on our final night on Kangaroo Island and loved it. The property is a wonderful old stone house, excellently refurbished, set on a hill with views to the shore. Barbara and Heidi (a beautiful border collie with a lovely nature) were on hand to welcome us, full of information, but happy to let us settle...

Seaview Lodge, now a hosted Bed & Breakfast, is a heritage house built in the 1860's and extended in the 1890's to serve as a sailors' guest house for sailors working the supply ships to the island from mainland Australia in the "olden days". It has been a farmhouse, private home, boarding house and in recent times completly refurbished to provide bed & breakfast accommodation with the addition of en suite bathrooms, guest lounge and all modern amenities to ensure a comfortable homely stay for guests wishing to experience the ambience of graceful living of a previous age. The 5 en suited guest rooms all have reverse cycle air-conditioning & electric blankets. A communal dining room with beautiful sea views provides a delightful setting for the full cooked breakfasts with an emphasis on the local produce for which Kangaroo Island in now famous. Guest lounges have large libraries and tea & coffee making facilities. The local village of Penneshaw has a hotel dining room, cafes and takeaways again with local produce being offered for lunch and evening meals. Local easily accessed wineries are famous for their luncheon food platters to accompany the local wines from the many vineyards on the island. Access to Seaview Lodge is enhanced by its proximity to the ferry terminal only 1 km away with frequent ferry crossings from the mainland. Kangaroo Island is home to unique wildlife, beautiful beaches, national parks, abundant birdlife and a tranquil atmosphere to give visitors a never to be forgotten holiday experience.
