There were no surprises! Holiday Inns are usually clean and the rooms are usually basic, no frills. We had a good sized room, with a king sized bed(comfy), flat screen TV, desk/chair, and large balcony with a few chairs. The bathroom was very small and the shower was one of those ridiculous kinds that have half of a shower door....

The HI Cairns look after their frequent guests with upgrades to Ocean view rooms with Balconies that overlook the bay, making for a nice evening drink location.
