Location was everything. Cant beat that, But, hotel just changed management. Booked 9 months ago. Our room wasn't ready so got bumped to room on front of building. VERY NOISY at night. Loading ship in dock. Trucks all night. Hotel would not honour our breakfast from Rydges booking, wanting $35 per person. Room average.

We were in Sydney for Taylor Swift concert, booked accommodation 8 months before the event. Twin room with Harbour views, at an industry rate. Arrived at the motel to be told there was not a booking for us. The duty manager Abbie was brought out to assist us further. Apparently our booking had been cancelled only days before. We sent an email to confirm the booking a week before and received a confirmation email plus rang and spoke to a human representative who also confirmed the booking. Neither of these or the copies we had were of interest to her. Abbie bluntly told us she did not have a room. Definitely not a Harbour View room. After sometime, she said she had one room that could sleep two people. We continued by saying there was four of us, hence why we booked a room for four people she rolled her eyes was rude, disrespectful, discourteous, uncivil, she had displayed no interest or care in our situation. She insisted that we had cancelled the booking. However, why would we turn up there if we had cancelled the booking. She lied continually through our conversation, making all sorts of excuses, saying there were no rooms and then finding rooms but she was willing to charge a much higher price than our original room. She suggested we could go elsewhere knowing very well if there were rooms available due to the Taylor Swift concerts, they would be an exorbitant price. This conversation lasted almost an hour. We were shown to the room she had suggested. The room was tiny, and there was no chance of fitting two rollaway beds into it. We then returned to the reception with Rohan the friendly and helpful assistant. By this time Abbie had left and was replaced by another duty manager Ram. Ram was incredibly easy to get along with, helpful and expressed concern for our situation. After some conversation we decided to go and see the sights of Sydney while Ram said he would try and sort something out for us. When we returned, he had sorted a twin room. Very fortunate for us that Abby ‘s shift had finished and Ram’s had started. Otherwise I am unsure how we would’ve spent the next two nights. Abbie’s behaviour was disgusting and shameful. She should be embarrassed for her attitude and the poor name she has given the company she works for. We definitely will never stay at this place again. Reading some other reviews, it appears others have had some issues with Abbie the duty manager. This company should do themselves a favour and dismiss her and her disgraceful attitude.

This was our second stay here on 19/2/2024, chosen specifically for the walking distance location to the Overseas Passenger Terminal. We knew ahead of time that the hotel is well past its use-by date but that does not excuse the horrendous check-in experience. My husband has worked in hospitality all his life and was appalled. We originally booked this as Rydges about four months ago, long before it was taken over by new owners on 1 February. Rydges communicated the change to us some weeks before the change, and confirmed our paid-for booking, but we never received anything from the new management at this time. On arrival to Sydney airport I discovered an email sent at 3pm the day we were to check in, confirming the reservation. On arrival at around 8pm there was one person at reception with a large group of people who obviously had some kind of issue with their check-in, but there was no attempt to call another staff member to assist the large queue of people waiting. There were other staff members floating around. There are two luggage trolleys for the whole hotel, and no staff to assist customers with their luggage either. When I finally got to the counter he had some issues understanding me when I gave him my name (I do not have a difficult accent) - eventually found the reservation and immediately demanded my credit card. I have no idea why this is required for a prepaid booking, especially since the rooms are so basic and there is no mini bar, although I do understand that most hotels ask for it. When I mentioned that the booking is prepaid and I am not that happy to give him the CC, he said that it's in case I destroy the room - highly insulting and inappropriate comment. I presented my card, and he then proceeded to tell me that he would be taking a $50 deposit from the card, and that it would be refunded in a few days. There is no information anywhere, no signage on the desk and nothing on the website, stating that a separate deposit needs to be paid and I said that he already has the CC number - they have no right to levy an additional charge without prior notification. His comment, hotel is under new management. Regardless, this is not my problem and it is up to the hotel management to be open and transparent about its fees and charges. I refused to authorise the charge and thankfully they did not debit the card. The room rates on this hotel are very high, and I know it's partly because of its superb location. It's a shame it's in such a run-down condition, with staff who appeared untrained and totally out of their depth. Rydges at least had its name to rely on. The room was clean, very basic. We could not use the bath/shower due to mobility issues, that's not specifically the hotel's fault, but if it were built today it would fail to comply with modern building codes. Sadly this hotel will ride on the convenience of its location and not good service, unless it spends some money on high quality staff training and upgraded amenities.

The best thing about this hotel is the location. The hotel itself is very tired and needs completely renovating. The bathroom in our room was tiny. We had a terrible 'view'. Being on the roof is the best bit because the views are great. My husband cut his arm open on a sharp towel rail which, when reported, was repaired by being covered with cellotape! Disappointing.

The hotel’s location is its biggest asset, just across the street from Sydney’s Campbell Cove and Circular Quay. The views from the rooftop pool are indeed fabulous despite the Opera view often being blocked by cruise ships in the harbor. The hotel is huge but was very busy early March. The rooms are very simple with little done in terms of decor or extra amenities. Nonetheless it’s a good choice for someone who favors location over comfort items. It was also priced fairly moderately compared to many other surrounding hotels so it is definitely a hotel worth considering. It would also be a prime choice for the night just before or after a cruise.

We had stayed here twice before in 2015 and 2017 when this hotel was the Holiday Inn Old Sydney. Unfortunately the property has deteriorated since then. While the room was comfortable enough (notably the pillows) both it and the bathroom were shabby and dated and badly in need of refurbishment. As other reviewers have noted the room was way over-priced for the quality. This is a huge shame as the hotel can't be beaten for location.

I was really nervous due to the reviews, but my stay and room was nothing like the bad reviews and photos.. I guess I just got lucky because my room was really clean, bed was comfy, the staff were very nice and the lobby area was really cool.. On top of that the location was amazing, so close to everything.. I would definitely come back to this hotel when I visit Sydney again.. I have no complains about the bathroom, very clean and great lighting with a good amount of soap and ammenities, but would be nice to have better water pressure.

What a dirty hotel. The carpet in our room was disgusting with many stains. The blanket was also stained. We asked the front desk to replace the blanket and they never did, so, we slept without the blanket. The A/C was noisy all night with blowing and hearing water dripping inside the unit. Elevators smelled like urine, hallways were dark and poorly lit. The only thing this hotel has going for it is that it is in a great location inside Circular Quay with walking distance to restaurants, Harbor Bridge, and the Sydney Opera House. The hotel really needs refurbishment as it is dated and could really use a complete update.

Well.. I was so excited to check in with my daughter and another mother daughter couple. I had booked executive suite rooms 7 months earlier. On arrival to check in we knew it was too early so paid our room deposit and left our luggage to return later in the day. On our return at 2pm as advised, I was give our two rooms keys. I sent our friends to their room and my daughter and I were one level above. I had to ask where the lifts were as the gentleman checking us in didn’t give us those instructions… nor anything about breakfast times or checkout times. Anyway, up we go to level 4… I use the key card to open the door to find the ironing board out and clothes everywhere!!! A lady then quickly rushed to the door . I was shocked! So was she! Her husband quickly putting on a shirt also made his appearance. I explained how I had just been given this room key! She explained that they were there for 2 further nights! So my daughter and I work our luggage went back to reception. Confused gentleman is unsure how this has happened . “What do you mean there’s people in there?” The female manager then comes over (who we had met earlier and she had taken our deposits that morning) She apologised and then gave new room keys. To the room my friend is in!!! I explained again, I don’t want those key, the gentleman’s has JUST checked my friend into that room! It’s occupied, like the last room!! I am fuming! So our option, a basic room, tiny and no view (which I what I booked). I ask what other rooms are available and she explains this is the only room left, and would I like to view it first? I’m not sure why I would view it, as it is the ONLY room left!!!! I literally have NO CHOICE! I am so disappointed and embarrassed that this could happen. Surely when we booked and paid, our room was reserved. So did the other couple get an upgrade into our room?? The facilities- old, mouldy, needs a good dusting and clean behind the furniture! Our key cards stopped working and after returning late had to tell to get the attention of the night shift attendant to get it reactivated. Will never go back! Great location, $hit service!!
