No whole dinosaurs, but we definitely found some fossils, and the weather was awesome for being down on a Yorkshire Coast beach. Boggle Hole hostel was fab! Better than I expected from looking at reviews and photos actually.. I went there with my 7 yr old daughter so we had a room of our own, the hostel is an exciting... More

We have just returned from a two night stay at Boggle Hole and could not fault anything the staff were very helpful and happy in their work the hostel is superb and so well thought out with loads of quirky features to please children and adults alike. Cant wait to go again. And the icing on the cake was finding... More

Just spent a night here whilst walking the Cleveland Way. This is a hidden gem. Staff were ultra friendly and helpful. Very good value food. Nice layout with the 'cabins' all individually decorated. A fantastic secluded location. Clean tidy bright and airy.

My second stay here and it gets better and better! I dragged my brother and sister-in-law here because I knew they and their three kids would love it. We had two family rooms and both were clean, comfortable and warm. We arrived in thick fog and didn't fancy driving out again to eat. Despite the short notice and shortage of... More

Just wish we'd stopped when our lad was a kid, absolutely brill location on the back of the cove with Robin Roods Bay quarter of an hour away across the beach & rock pools. Hostel was warm when it was perishing outside, room was snug & the kitchen worked once you found your way round the cupboards. The pirate boat... More

It is magical arriving at the hostel and walking down a dark lane to get to it- but as previous reviewers have mentioned it would not have been so good if I had a buggy or mobility problems and it wasn't clear on the site. This would be such a great place to take primary school age kids, with the... More

Very helpful, friendly staff- lovely relaxed atmosphere - our 3 bedded room was cosy with a double bed and sea view - very child welcoming - lots to do - one minute stroll to the beach, 20 minutes along the beach to Robin Hood's Bay, 10 minute drive to Whitby, its historic Abbey, church, pier and Fortune's kippers. Further up... More

Iconic location for a hostel. Strongly aimed at kids and families with small children. Staff are great. On the Cleveland Way coastal path and there are plenty of other footpaths to keep you happy. Easy beach walk to Robin Hoods Bay. It's a hostel, not a hotel. Be reasonable and you'll be fine. There is no radio reception which is... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Boggle Hole is an amazing and unique site, nestled in a narrow wooded cove on the beach. We specialise in 'old fashioned' seaside holidays and don’t mind when you come back covered in sand! The hostel has many fantastic features…a mermaid, seamonster and pirate! A curio cabinet and play rooms, borrow books or tell your children stories. There are games and puzzles hidden in the building and grounds and dressing up clothes and hobby horse for all. Our woods and grounds feature a story telling circle and fairy tale trails. Numerous areas for picnics and a lovely BBQ area. The beach is on the doorstep and we are open all day (when you need a dry set of clothes). We have a café selling hot food and great breakfasts, our coffee is well known as the best on the coast and is available all day! We also have self catering facilites if that’s your thing. We pride ourselves on the friendliest service and advice and will welcome you with a big smile. ... more   less
