Hunter's Lodge was our first "real" pub experience in Ireland. We sat at the bar and had lunch and a few pints and chatted with the bartender (possibly owner?), Kathleen. We helped her and a regular with a few crossword riddles while eating and had a good time. The food was great. I had the specials of the day, a... More

We had a great lunch here and sat by the cozy coal fire while enjoying our Guiness and Bulmers. I had the best fish and chips I've ever had and my husband enjoyed his beef burger (I know how original for an American!) There were a couple of friendly old regulars sitting around us sipping their Guinesses, and the lady... More

Arrived for lunch as was treated to a rare thing in the realm of pub-grub these days - a toasted ham & cheese sandwich made with *actual* sliced cooked ham - not the plastic stuff out of a packet. B&B next door in the inn was really, really nice. Comfortable bed, nicely decorated room, immaculately clean bathroom, good selection of... More

I should have written about the Hunter's Lodge before having stayed there on business many times with colleagues. Robert and Kathleen always give us the warmest of welcomes and as others have commented, Kathleen's breakfasts are the stuff of legend - not huge, just enough for a great start to the day but freshly prepared and of the highest quality,... My girlfriend and I stayed here a couple of weekends ago for a wedding in Limerick and a reception at Dromoland Castle. Right from the off (we didn't arrive until 23:30) Robert and Kathleen made us feel welcome and nothing was too much trouble. We stayed for 3 nights and were delighted with a fantastic full Irish breakfast each morning... More

Hunters Lodge was our destination as a base for a wedding at Dromoland Castle; I chose it based on location and trip advisor reviews - I was not disappointed. Right from the initial contact when I needed to book a number of rooms without definite confirmation, Kathleen could not have been more helpful. On arrival both her and Robert did... More

My parents just stayed there this past weekend (for 4 nights) and had the most fantastic stay. Robert and Kathleen were great hosts and cooked a brilliant breakfast. My parents had a lovely meal each evening in the restaurant (apart from the night they were at a wedding in the castle) and Kathleen could not have been more welcoming. I... More

we must have caught this place on the wrong day based on other reviews. food was awful (taste of mould off fish), over priced (charged €7 for a baby bowl - 2 scoops of mash and a drizzle of soup), salad was wilted and on the turn. Overall an unpleasant experience. My advie, hit teh nearby clare inn instead for... More

What a find! The host Robert, greeted us with genuine smile and chatted to us throughout the evening (we were in the pub section and wanted an evening meal). The menu was varied and traditional and the food was obviously freshly cooked to order. The mashed potatoes that came with the meal were so fabulous we had to ask how... More

Kathleen and Robert were great hosts. Robert in the restaurant and Kathleen made the best breakfast. Fantastic coffee as well. It was our anniversary and they made it extra special. Can't beat the value for a great nights sleep in County Clare.
