We really enjoyed staying at this eco-friendly guesthouse near Athlone. It was relatively new at the time (4 years ago), everything was clean and cheerful. Loved the owner, he was so friendly and fun. After driving for so long, it was nice to be able to chill in the bar/lounge area and just chat, watch some tv and sip on... More

We stayed 2 nights in Coosan cottage and found the place to be perfect for what we needed for the weekend. Tom, the owner is quite a character & makes you feel welcome and at ease. The rooms are spacious, clean and relatively new. The bar makes the B&B quite unique and was perfect for a few pints of guinness... More

My family and I stayed here when we were celebrating an anniversary. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. The proprietor Tom is friendly, attentive and professional. The locals relax in the lounge in the evenings, this says a lot for the quality of the Guinness and the friendly service. We're going back to stay here this coming weekend and... More

We stayed here recently as we were attending a wedding in Athlone town. Tom, the owner, is certainly a character and has quite a personal and relaxed way of welcoming you and checking you in. Our room was downstairs, and was fine: a standard sized double bed, a pine wardrobe, dressing table and one locker. Some of the handles were... More

If you want a taste of Irish hospitality, this is the place!! Recommended to us by the Lonely Planet we were not disappointed. Tom is the perfect host. His cottage is clean, comfortable and not far from the lake. If you want to meet some locals, hang out at the bar of an evening and enjoy a pint, a poem... More

I arrived in Lough Ree Yacht Club, Athlone for a regatta with my 12 year old daughter having not pre-booked accomodation. On exiting LRYC the first guesthouse we came across was Coosan Cottage and what a find it was! Tom, the proprietor, greeted us warmly and showed us around. The bedroom was large and very comfortable with excellent eco friendly... More
