We had a lovely night at the Western Way bnb having just walked the western way in reverse. Edwina was exceptionally hospitable and knowledgable about the local area. The bnb was very comfortable and spotless and the breakfast was outstanding with Edwina catering for our dietary needs. Would recommend and would stay here again if back in Oughterard. Thanks again for a lovely homey stay!

Despite a paucity of recent reviews I am delighted to say that there has been no drop in standards by Edwina. I can tell you we had a real fun encounter and were definitely in tune. Still great food and Edwina does not approve of sparrow appetites. Really enjoyable craik.

This place we came upon when travelling through Ireland. We had no reservation so we rang the door bell and was greeted by Edwina. What a lovely lady and so accommodating. She had a lovely room, for us and the breakfast was so filling. This is a little town outside of Galway but so much character. Easy walk into the town, which we enjoyed. I would highly recommend this place. Thank-you John and Charlene

Very comfortable, attractive, homely accommodation and spotlessly clean. Perfect location two minutes walk from the centre of the town. Quiet at night. Very friendly and accommodating hosts. Outstanding scenery for hillwalking. Would certainly stay there again.

When we left the Western Way B&B after a 5 night stay, we felt like we were leaving home. Edwina and Maurice were wonderful hosts, and Edwina could make a living as a chef, making such wonderful breakfasts! We each had a "half" Irish breakfast most of our mornings, and it was enough to take us to dinner, with maybe a snack for lunch. Can't imagine what the full breakfast would have done for us. The B&B is right in town, but we never had a problem parking, as it's about a block and a half from the main intersection in town, which has wonderful pubs and restaurants to choose from. We used the B&B as a base, as it's convenient to the Connemara and the Galway areas, plus it's about 40 minutes to the ferry for the Aran islands. Can't say enough about Edwina and Maurice's hospitality, and, after running the B&B for 18 years, they know how to make it feel like a wonderful home away from home!…

The Western Way Bed and Breakfast is a charming home that has 4 rooms to let. Breakfast is delicious and the rooms are comfortable and very clean. The owner Edwina has been doing this for over fifteen years and is a charming, sassy, Irish woman! We stayed 4 nights and were reluctant to leave. Hope to go back and stay again!

Stayed here for an orienteering competition in the area. A two to three minute walk from the centre of the village. Edwina is a great host and we enjoyed our 2 two night stay. Breakfast was good. No hesitation in recommending.

We were on our way out of the Connemara and in search of a place for the night. We entered Oughterard and immediately were drawn to how quaint and lively this little town was and happened on The Western Way Bed and Breakfast. This B&B is located on a small street within walking distance to lovely places to eat and listen to music. We rang the bell and were greeted by Edwina, one of the nicest hosts you could imagine. She showed us a room that epitomized a quaint Irish room that was spotless and homey. Edwina was so helpful in advice on where to go for dinner, which we walked to and provided a delicious breakfast in the morning. My only regret is not finding this place sooner and planning a longer stay. Perfect location to see Connemara, Galway and Kylemore Abbey!

What a lovely place to stay, and a wonderful way to begin our visit to the west of Ireland. This is a charming, very clean, extremely comfortable home, and the hostess is warm and welcoming. Delicious breakfasts, good conversation. Clean, modern, private bathrooms. Conveniently located to restaurants, shops, and points of interest. Edwina rocks!
