Ruth and Stuart are two of the loveliest hosts we came across and made us feel like friends visiting from afar - though it was our first stay! Everything is wonderful - the warmth of their home, friendly suggestions as to where to go, what to see, places with great trad music. They simply did everything first rate. Ella (she... More

Hillside Lodge, but you may call it Hard Rock Cafè Clifden. Stuart Morgan is the bass guitar tech of U2 and many more, and there's a lot of memorabilia (including stage passes, photos, golden records and newspaper articles) in the hall. If he's not on stage, setting the Clayton's bass guitars, he will serve you a lovely breakfast with the... More

After a long flight from the US to Dublin, then a character-building drive to Clifden in a rental car, driving on the left side of the road for the first time in our lives, we landed at the Hillside Lodge last month. What a wonderful choice for our first stop in Ireland. First Ruth greeted us, showed us to our... More

We stayed at Hillside Lodge in September, we booked in for a few nights and ended up staying for 8 nights, the place was so amazing !!! We stayed in the Beatles room - which was quite apt as we are from Liverpool - the rest of the the house is so luxuriously comfortable and decorated to a very high... More

We stayed here 2 nights in October and wish we could have stayed more. It was our absolute favorite B and B. The hosts were so sweet, the house was beautiful and spacious, the breakfast was amazing. I am vegetarian and they had so many choices! The nearby town of Clifden was also lovely. Great food and music in town... More

The hospitality by Ruth and Stuart was first class, along with the amenities and accommodations. My wife and I stayed in Room 6 with all it's comforts a TV lounge room and room bath robes. We used the separate sitting room as a reading and map planning area, without disturbing a sleeping partner! Clifden is a short "stretch of the... More

Hillside Lodge was much more than I had expected. The reviews were great, but the Lodge was even better. The house was very warm and inviting, my bedroom was so comfortable, and the view was calming. There were lovely personal touches, like the ribbon around the towels, that made Hillside Lodge stand out. Ruth's breakfasts were so good, especially her... More

We spent just one night with Ruth and Stuart at Hillside Lodge but enjoyed it very much. Gorgeous interior decoration, comfortable bedroom sitting room and bath. Lovely dining room with delicious breakfast. Convenient to everything in Connemara. Friendly hosts with a cute doggie that guests can take for walks. More

We had a lovely 6 day break in the west of Ireland last week - 3 days in Westport and 3 days in Clifden. Myself and my wife would rate Hillside Lodge B&B as highly as our 4 star hotel stay in Westport. Ruth & Stuart were wonderfull hosts and breakfast was excellent with a great variety of options. Our... More
