I was here as part of a group for lunch on a Saturday afternoon & it will be the last time Il ever come here. What looks fantastic from the outside is completely deceiving on the inside. I hate writing a bad review & in by no means do I like putting any business down, but my experience here in... More

I am so sorry that you had a bad experience at lunch with us last Saturday and I am sorry that the waiting staff did not bring you a supply of the fresh hot bread that was readily available from the kitchen and indeed was fed to the geese at the end of the day. I have investigated this matter... More

Myself, my fiance and my parents went to Barnabrow house for Sunday lunch. On the plus side the food looked fantastic and tasted even better. Unfortunately on the negative side the restaurant was absolutely freezing. None of us took our coats off and afterwards we ran to our cars to put the heaters on and warm up. When we asked... More

We take all reviews seriously, both positive and negative, at Barnabrow House and we try to improve our offerings and correct aspects of our business that are unsatisfactory. As you are aware our dining room is large, airy, with an enormously high ceiling and because of these features it is difficult to heat. It is on the coldest days that... More

Brought my Mum here for Sunday Lunch for her Birthday. We were welcomed by a big blazing fire while we waited for our food. Atmosphere was relaxed and enjoyable. Staff were very helpful and in no time knew all seven of our names, I was very Impressed with this personal service. Food was gorgeous and presentation was beautiful loved the... More

My husband and I decided to forego a spot of lunch here due to the frosty and quite rude reception. There were, however, two very pleasant staff members behind the bar. We chose another restaurant just down the road where manners certainly weren't lacking. Wouldn't recommend this place for the lack of courtesy experienced. Pity - the surroundings are lovely....

I am sorry that you had an unhappy experience at Sunday lunch recently. Having checked with staff they have been unable to explain what might have happened and are surprised. I would be grateful if you could contact me to discuss the problem. More

Stayed one night at Barnabrow for a wedding. Food was fantastic, staff were friendly. However i found the place shabby, not sheik shabby, just plain shabby, furniture was dated and worn. My partners seat collapsed while eating the dinner meal, and my chair was coming apart. Neither of us are overweight. While eating the meal, fire exit doors were open... More

My Paddy’s Day lunch at Barnabrow House was a real treat – great food at a great price. We had never been there before so we really enjoyed the long mysterious driveway, the interesting buildings which probably could do with better signage as we were not too sure where we were going. Eventually we followed the scent of a turf... More

On March 22nd 2013 we celebrated our wedding at Barnabrow House, it is truly charming, vintage, and old fashioned, exactly what we were looking for when we booked our wedding. I must admit I was apprehensive when we booked it because of the negative reviews on this site and of how old fashioned the bedrooms were but I was wrong... More

I so much enjoyed exploring Barnabrow House and its grounds at a wedding that I went to there last month. We had a small simple room in the converted courtyard at the back of the main house which was so cosy. The wedding had a very private feel to it because we had the whole place to ourselves this gave... More

The location of the hotel is stunning. But the service and details are very poor. The hotel is not at all child friendly. Staff sighed when asked for a high chair and only brought one for the dinner - didn't manage to get get us one for our breakfast. Dinner: normally restaurants serve children first because children's attention spans are... More

I am most surprised to read this latest review on Trip Advisor because I attended this table at the wedding referred to above and personally looked after this guest and his three children for much of the evening, I am also surprised in this context as I also covered the floor on the evening in question and listened to appreciative...
