The night before we arrived we had a very nice slow roasted lamb at Botswana Butchery but it was nothing compared to the venison served with spiced beetroot, potato mash and a parsnip dish I can only describe as heavenly. We would stay again with Kevin and Ross just for the food alone, including the breakfast. The accommodation is shared... More

This was my second stay at Muddy Creek and was just as fabulous as the first. Five of us were riding the rail trail and our stay here was at the end of our first day. I had emailed Kevin and requested his lovely lamb dinner but first off we sat outside and enjoyed the beautiful pre dinner platter. Sitting... More

This place is fantastic, attention to detail in every aspect of the stay. The rooms are beautifully decorated with a lot of time and thought been put into everything. Ross and Kevin were amazing hosts. All the food is produced on the small farm, cheese, vegetables, homemade jam etc.. Our evening meal was to five star restaurant standards. I would... More

If you are bike riding foodie, this is the place for you! We walked our bikes in from the Otago Rail Trail, through the field of beautiful tall grasses to an old farmsted. I had my doubts until we met Kevin and he welcomed us. After settling in, the sun cast beautiful warm light across the fields and buildings as... More

Just did the Rail Trail last month and had a wonderful afternoon and evening at Muddy Creek. The guys were welcoming without being intrusive and we had the place to ourselves by happenstance. Kevin is a great chef, which added to the enjoyment. Very comfortable place to kick back and enjoy Central Otago.

I recently stayed at the Muddy Creek Cutting B+B and had a great night. I wasn't doing the rail trail, just popped into Lauder for a night and a look around. I really enjoyed the quirky character-laden house, and combined with the awesome home-grown fresh food, was just delightful. We got both the open fire and wood-burner cranking in the... More

This is one of the best B&B experiences that we've had in NZ. The property and accommodation are immaculate, interesting and cozy. Dinner was excellent and prepared from fresh local ingredients, most of which come from the onsite garden. Doze off in one of the day beds, wake up, and you might think you're in Tuscany...

Wonderful cosy B&B, you can really tell that the owners have showered love on the property to make it lovely and comfortable but also quirky and stylish. Peaceful setting just off the trail, it was the best place overall I stayed in on the whole trail. Delicious organic homegrown food, good portions. The optional addition of dinner may seem expensive ($50NZD),... More

A great weekend away in Lauder with a winning combination of: charming accommodation; amazing food; excellent service; friendly & helpful owners; and lovely scenery. The delicious food cooked by Kevin was well earned after a couple of hours cycling the rail trail. After dinner we had a relaxing sauna, then kicked back with a glass of wine in front of... More
