From the minute we arrived everyone was pleasant and helpful. The room was clean and the selection of food was good. Some people pay for 2 star and expect 4 star treatment. The entertainment was also good The dining room staff were very efficient and quick. Mr and Mrs Ovington.

Contrary to previous reviews, we enjoyed out short-break stay and very good value for the money we paid. Staff were helpful, room was clean and we had no complaints. However, if mobility is a problem there were a lot of stairs to negotiate up to our large side sea view room which was comfortable. Even the ground floor rooms had... More

just come back from a short break at the medehamstede, and I have mixed feelings about it, the staff were all very friendly and welcoming, but the manager james was in my opinion a bit off hand, perhaps he should take a few lessons from some of his staff, Diane the waitress is a real star, she works so hard... Dont trust the brochure, hotel is not family run. If you cant walk very far then the stairs are a nightmare, dont bring lots of luggage. Decorating looks very shabby and tired in bedrooms, furniture in bedrooms looks cheap and tacky. The TV's in the room were so small you couldn't look at them properly, mine was stuck in the... More

Website states food & drink menu under construction, which it has stated since we booked in February. Some of the food was reasonable but the majority was of poor standard. On our first night there we was advised there was no choice of meals because they were not expecting us even though we booked in February. Stainless steel Tableware is... More

Four guys, two twin rooms, one night! Although clean the hotel was shabby, tiny bathrooms with no showers. Tea and coffee presented in plastic bag. Breakfast very bad, overlooked and cold not allowed any extras. £66 per room!

I stayed overnight at the Medehamstede Hotel having found it on the Bookings.com website. One night in a single en suite room including breakfast for £20 seemed very cheap (it had been reduced from around £30) but the room itself was fine although the heating seemed to be on full blast until quite late in the evening making the room... Just returned from a 5 day 4 night holiday staying at the Medenhamstede, 1st April to 5th April 2013. DO NOT believe the negative comments you read. For the price you pay you don't expect 5* accommodation but the hotel is clean and the food is piping hot and plentiful. The staff are very friendly, big hello to Kev and... More

Came here via a mystery tour through David Urqhart Coaches. Food and selection was good but breakfast was a constant struggle for milk & tea to drink. If one on your table wanted cornflakes and the other Weetabix as in our case, then you'd have to attract the attention of the waiter/ess in order to get more milk for either... More

Could not fault any of the staff. They were all very helpful. Good food at breakfast and dinner with a choice. Hotel could benefit from refurbishment - especially by getting rid of the plastic flowers around the reception area!
